A question for you, what will this application do that you can't already do by accessing Jajah.com from the BlackBerry?

Thanks

it will allow you to initiate a Jajah call by selecting a contact from your blackberry addressbook.

The Jajah website does not work on the blackberry browser on my 7250. It fails in both the main site and the WAP site.

Which BlackBerry OS are you running on?

Did you activated Javascript in the "Browser Configuration"?

If you have Internet access and are able to browse websites, you can use it. Because you just need to invoke the call from your browser and the rest is done by Jajah whose system is first calling you and then you contact. So there is no "airtime" used anymore

But you are using minutes out of your plan.

US cell phone plans have a pool of minutes, and when someone calls you - incoming calls are NOT free.

This tool my work great in Europe.

Uh, sorry, right, coming from an unlimited incoming calls plan, it is for free.

However, even if you are not, it will be cheaper if somebody calls as if you call somebody, right?

It really doesn't matter.
I am still using my minutes.

EVERYTIME I pick up the phone, my minutes are used.
UNLESS the call is coming from another phone on the same network, ie Tmobile to TMobile or Verizon to Verizon.

What we need is a true VoIP application for these BB's.

Like Skype.
But I dont think we will see it for a long time.
Because if you have SKYPE and BB, you dont need a voice plan at all.
Granted that Skype is up all the time and functioning properly.

I just started playing with Jajah today. I called Manila and talked for 5--10 minutes. Call quality was ok, no echos, but there were delays in hearing myself talk.

I made the connection from the URL. I installed the BB app afterwards, and will try that out later today.

Based on limited data on Jajah, Skype has better call quality, but using my own phone instead of the skpye headset makes up for it.

I am using the BB as with Jajah, not with Skype. The headset I use with Skype is a pain, which is what I said above.

Yes. The problem with skype is just its VoIP architecture. You need to transcode the VoIP calls at the client which means at the BlackBerry. We all know that the BlackBerry's processor is not as strong as on other devices. So this may be the reason why there is no "true" VoIP available on the BlackBerry.
