Default RDM+ Help Needed

Please Login to Remove!

To the folks at Shape Services:

I have requested support via your website twice in the last 10 days. You haven't replied to either of my requests, so I'm going to try using this forum. I'm an owner of RDM+ and have been for a little less than a year.

I had to reinstall my OS and since doing so, haven't been able to get RDM+ to work. I believe I have my firewall and router settings setup correctly. The message I get on my BB 7520 (running V2.03) is:

Can't connect to the host "myipaddress:6100". Connection error.

Exception: Unable to open connection

Please help.

Mark

Hello,

Sorry for the inconveniences, we have had temporary problems at our site and probably that is why your support request was not delivered to us.

Please describe the situation in more details.
What was your previous OS and what OS are you using now?

Also please note that the latest version of RDM+ is 3.3. It can be downloaded from this location.

You will also need to get acknowledged with our "Getting started guide" before setting RDM+ up.

If you will enoxxxxer any problems please contact us at [email address]

Kind regards,
Svetlana

Both my old OS and new OS are WinXP. Your product worked fine previously.

I have tried both V3.2 and V3.3 with the same results.

What does the error message I'm receiving mean?

They're offering a $24.95 "migration" fee from the previous (ZZZ Software) version to their new "improved" (Shape Services) version. Quite honestly, I was happy with the last version and don't see any differences between the old and new version (for the way I use it. I'm sure there may be other improvements for savvy IT-types.)

I don't like being forced into purchasing a new license for a product I already own just because a new version has come out.

You can continue using previous version without any additional charges.

SHAPE Services' version now supports BIS and HTTP connection. Also it has lifetime RDM Online Service included. As you may remember, ZZZ customers who use RDM Online Service had to pay for it monthly.

Does not work as per the first poster has said , so this forced upgrade is REALLY a cash grab . Come on Shape Services , shape up. And give the first users of the product the new upgrade for free,

The reason of this problem is that this user's computer is not opened for direct access. So it cannot be connected withour RDM Online Service.

ZZZ Software had sold RDM Online Service for $9 a month.
Now SHAPE Services offers RDM Online Service for lifetime, if you pay $24.95.
We consider these conditions are really very favourable for ZZZ customers.

Those users who have direct access to their computers do not need RDM Online Service, so they can use older versions without any problems, if they do not need to upgrade.

The Shape Services team has been very responsive to my inquiries and has helped me get connected back to my computer. My problem was simply one of incompatibility of the version on my PC vs. the version on my BB. Both needed to be the most current version.

I don't use the online service. Contrary to the post above, my PC is open for direct access, but since I was running an older version of the PC app, it was incompatible with the version I was running on my BB.

Thanks for your help, Shape.
