Lightbulb Berry411 3.50 is now available - 10-19-2006, 04:04 AM

Berry411 3.50 is now available.

The major new feature in this release is improved handling for addresses, as frequently requested by users.

* The “Pick from recent addresses” feature allows you to easily manage more than three addresses.
* The City/State field now accepts zip codes as well.
* The phone numbers of items you click on are now automatically added to search history.
* There have been a few of subtle usability improvements to address editing.

See this blog post for screenshots and an install link:

total newbie question here... i'm trying to find out what version of berry411 I installed but I don't see any option of finding out.

By the way, great job on whatever version I have, I do like using it in combination with google maps.

also.. some cons. There will be no more notification alert when you get a new message or friend request on your bb messenger. One more thing make sure you back up your device before upgrading, it deleted all my BB messenger buddies.

Pros

You can set your address book in any of the two shorcut keys, also I have discovered that booting time is a lot faster now.

I end up downgrading because I didn't like that fact that I don't see any notification when I get new messages on BBM. :D

What does this have to do with Berry411.

fyi, Phil...if you click the "Mail Yourself" link, it sends the 3.30 link. Not 3.50.

Default Thanks Phil - 10-21-2006, 11:08 PM

The most useful software on my BB made even better.

Also a suggestion for future release, when you use the very useful feature that adds a search entity to the BB Address Book, I find that these entries are generally a business and the the name goes into the first name field. While it is no big deal to cut/paste it into the Company field, it would be nice if it defaulted there.

OMG.....I downloaded this program weeks ago and neglected to use it not knowing that it was a "smart" program. Input my info for home and work and typed in a search and this program found what I typed in before I was even finished! I can see me using this everywhere I go from now on. Wow!

Is there an "upgrade" procedure?
I am planning to just "remove" 3.4 and then "install" 3.5, but was wondering if there was a better way, i.e. one that preserved my existing addresses and recent searches.

Thanks,
Dan

edit: easy answer is to use the 411 and click the "upgrade to 3.5" link.

Actually, I do have one question...Is there a way to make it go through my regular browser instead of blackberry browser where I go through a proxy and have to enter my username and password?

NM, I somehow inadvertantly set my default browser to blackberry browser.
