Default New "Google Services" - Including new GMAIL app - 11-02-2006, 08:28 AM

Go to: www.mobile.google.com from your internet or blackberry browser.

Allows you to download an "application" that adds four icons to your blackberry ribbon: gmail, google search, google news, and google maps. The first three are merely links to webpages and the maps basically just opens google maps (version 1.3.2). Also adds an option to the settings/options menu that allows you to control which icons appear on the home screen.

I installed it and then uninstalled it - you get basically the same functionality from downloading google maps (Google Maps) and then adding bookmarks for the other three. However, you might like it.

Not bad. Can open jpgs but not mp3s. Doesn't compare at all to getting gmail through BIS.

Everyone

Google just dropped a gmail client for java enabled mobile phones. I just installed it and it is super fast. Im talking its as fast as the blackberry mail client. The best thing with it is that you get 2 way synch with your mail.

Head over to Google Mobile for details.

To install it OTA head to Gmail from your device.

Seems like the two-way reconciliation is delayed as well... I deleted it from the BB App and it doesn't go away in the website... but when i delete it from BB email, it deletes it a few minutes later...

After I installed their "suite" the icon took me to gmail via the bb browser. I logged in then exited the browser, clicked the gmail icon again then I was presented with the option to download the gmail client.

After the install I had a new gmail icon and when I clicked it I got a java error about cod something and sibling something.

I'm going to delete and start over.

******
Reinstalled and everything is working now.

I've downloaded and installed the new GMail app. But when it tries to connect I get: "The server certificate is not trusted by your handheld. Would you like to continue with the connection, close the connection or view the certificate for more information?"
I've tried to "Continue" but it just keeps displaying the same message. Any ideas? I'm on a BES.

I don't really like the web based apps that you d/l on mobile.google.com, but the individual gmail and google maps that you get on gmail.com/app and google.com/glm are the shits. Gmail apps are the Best!!!b

Ok I know I am not loosing my mind!

I went to mobile.google.com and I do not see any download links to applications that some other users have posted that they have downloaded apps to their BB. I have downloaded the gmail.com/app with success.

Tell me I'm not crazy!!! ???

The gmail app is cool. However, I would rather want to get them pushed to my BB directly. Real-time is better. But again, I could love to view graphics from Gmail Apps

Someone might want to view the HTML email.

However, it is just what I guess. I still want the gmail gets pushed to my BB in real-time.

Don't have any idea why things aren't weren't working at first, but just navigate to Google Mobile and it should come up with the installer link for the 4 applications. If it doesn't, go to Google Mobile and send a text message to your phone.

No Hosted Support (BIS NEEDS THIS TOO! GRR!)
Multiple account support doesnt exist
Slow to sync

LOL--I purchased Req not too long ago and after changing out my BB, I never looked into getting another copy of it. Guess I dont miss/need another mail client on my BB. I just use the RIM Carrier Webclient servicebook item to poll and send/receive POP accounts.

Now I can read my offers from tigerdirect without wondering what the heck all those links to images and all the other crap is. This is a wonderful app to have if you want html email to look the way it was meant to be.
