I have a suggestion for the program, "if possible". Can you make a color palette at the bottom of the setting screen basically replacing the RGB values with a color palette to change it's place (i'll say like, 240 in width and as high as you can go on height). Maybe use the trackball " pearl " to navigate around freely within the palette and maybe have some sort of picture in picture effect and show a descent sized square on the upper left giving you a preview of the color as you go around the palette and then select it.

I ran across this program on handago and I can't get the LEDS to change. I have program control LED and even under my volume options for vibrate I have it set to repeat option LED FLASHING. It just flashes red like normal, even though I have it set to blue.

The test runs through the LED colors fine, what am I missing?

The program doesn't do anything for incoming calls, only missed calls. So as it's incoming it'll flash like normal I guess.

Assuming you have a multi color LED (7100, 8100, 8700)

Try changing repeat option to none.

Yeah I have a Pearl (8100) and it changes the LED for e-mails. But not for SMS Text Messages.

I tried switching the repeat setting on and off and it still blinks red like normal. I even tried switching to different colors.

Any ideas?

Well from what I have read its not even alerting me of SMS messages as I have seen it has for others on this forum.

Although it does alert my of e-mails....

I was going to install the application and just as I deleted it I remembered I didn't have it saved anywhere, and all the super links in this topic time out.

Nope got the 8800 version partially working but I still can't see anything wrong with SMS.
So could be a while until SMS works for you.

Hey Mel,

Any links with past or an updated version I could give a shot on my pearl for the SMS alerts? All I have been able to find is the 1.3 version. I would even be willing to try an old version.

Berry Alerts stopped working on Sunday; any issues with DST? I received a message that BerryAlerts was attempting to access logs and I declined. I tried to download the 1.3 version again, but receiving an error. Please help! I love this program.

It needs to access phone logs to work properly. Issue with the DST is maybe the patcher reverted the programs permissions. You should reset them through:

options - advanced options - applications - find blackberry alerts and if you see something set to deny change it to prompt or allow.

Try a hardboot (remove battery) after install if you get an error - most likely install was OK.

Also 1.4 does not have the install error:

I probably know the answer, but here it goes anyway:

I had to take my blackberry 8703e back to Alltel due to a tech issue and so they issued me a new one. I had purchased BB Alerts about two weeks ago. I'm SOL, aren't I, since the permissions are handset specific, right? In other words, do I need to buy a new registration key because I have a new phone??

I'm also getting this error now and wasn't before. I downloaded from the OTA address and got 1.41. I've taken the battery out and rebooted, re-installed the app and still get this message. What can I do about that?

Mel,

Can you add Jivetalk to your application? I got an IM during a meeting today (was on vibrate) and just noticed it 4 hours later.

Question 03-13-2007, 11:49 PM

Hi guys,

Can Blackberry Alerts be pushed out wirelessly through Software Configurations on BES? I see everyone in here talking about OTA but I need to be able to push this out to multiple users. At the moment I can't get it to work? Now this is my first app that I am trying to push out through BES so I'm not sure if it is the application it's self having the problem, as I can't find anything on the net about pushing it out, or if there is something wrong with the way I am trying to do it.

At the moment we have the 1 purchased copy that I want to send to a test device with the vission of purchasing a couple more as this perticular group of users will be using there BB's for critical alerting.

Cheers ,
Aaron

I change all the settings, but no luck. I downloaded 1.4 and now receive the same message as lraed74. I then downloaded 1.3 from your site and still receive the error message on 1.3. HELP!

OK not sure what's up with the null pointer error. I'll try and figure it out... maybe relating to DST patch somehow, seems ok on 8800 now.

Version 1.2 is here http://bbymel.servebbs.com/12/BlackBerryAlerts.jad

If you get an error about no application entry point than you can ignore that one.

Mel,

I'm using an 8800 and a registered version of BB Alerts.
I just d/l Version 1.2 and installed.

Here are some of the problems I have run into...

Got an error after installation (sorry didnt write it down) I ignored it.

LED Test ... doesnt work

Alerts work for all applications but turn off after 15mins.

Log will only show SMS alerts..

Cheers
Ed

Is there a way to have 'message alert' just alert me of my SMS messages, but not my voice mail messages? I have a 8703e with Verizon and get a SMS message on every VM left, or is there a setting in VM that would stop the SMS message that you're aware of? I own your product! Love it except for that.

In my last message I asked a question about 'message alert'. I meant to say 'BB alerts'. Thanks! Great Product!

It seems like a lot are having difficulty with this program and doesnt work. Maybe it should be rebuilt with 8700/8100 and up in mind and also include the possibility to configure an alert for most/any applications you have loaded on your BB, not just the ones they have preset...hmm

+1.. Agree fully.

Not only that, but even if you do get it installed. Some of the settings don't work. And the week trial will run out by the time a new build is up, so testing a the new update is worthless for people who don't buy broken programs.

It was worth the $10 to me, as I have a lot of need to keep my BB silent in meetings, but like being able to look at the LED and know what's coming in.

But I agree with the group...it's REALLY buggy at best. I tried upgrading to 1.4, and gave up when nothing worked. Still on 1.3, which is still buggy, but functional for what I need.

Everything works perfect on my 8100 pearl, only thing on the wish list would be to be able to notify me of different programs like bb messenger and yahoo, but it's already been stated that it isn't possible. Still worth the 10 dollars though.

Under options it says notify for Voicemail.....

This program has numerous errors not to mention some of the settings don't work (SMS) for example.

A reworked version would be great. Or a version for specifically the pearl.

Sorry about the recent bugs, the 8800 release and the DST patch I think are causing a lot of issues which I still have to get figured out.
