Under options it says notify for Voicemail.....

This program has numerous errors not to mention some of the settings don't work (SMS) for example.

A reworked version would be great. Or a version for specifically the pearl.
I've tried and can't find it... Are you sure it is under options on the 8703e (Verizon)?? I looked under options from the main menu, and also under options while in the phone mode?? What am I missing??

There is an option "Notify On Voicemail" but your issue is that the carrier is sending down your phone number as the sender for the voicemail sms. Hence the application thinks it is an sms coming from that address rather than a voicemail notification sms.

There is no OPTION feature in my BB Alerts. There is settings in the drop down menu, but no VM setting anywhere I can fine. Understand, as a guy I can't find the milk in my refrigerator when it's right in front of me. But, I have looked and tried to find this several times to no avail. Thanks!

Odd, when I open BB alerts it shows me the schedule and alert screen and when I press the blackberry menu button, I get a popup of OPTIONS, and various other settings ASSIGN COLORS, HELP, MINIMIZE etc..

I believe trackball users can see different menus depending on if they press the trackball in or if they click the blackberry menu button.

Hasn't gone through too much testing yet but anyone without a working version can download latest from here:

http://bbymel.servebbs.com/14/BlackBerryAlerts.jad

-8800 issues fixed
-Program no longer alerts for Cingular PTT updates (uses SMS to update)
-Altered the way the screen is drawn to be compatible for 8800 so the screen will not be updated right away on a missed call, but added a refresh option to force a screen update.

Please private message me if you get any java exceptions.

Have had one person report an outofmemory error when starting app with 8703e. Previously they had the null pointer error.

Worked ok on 8700 simulator but that might not match the device 100%.

Hi Mel,

Well the log is now working and displaying on my 8800. The main problem I have had since I loaded this software (an update from the previous 1.41) is that the inbound messages stops and I have to do a reset by removing the matter. Once it comes back up, all the email flows back in.

Hi All,

I believe I am the guy BByMel is talking about in regards to BlackberryAlerts not running on a 8700. At the moment I can't get the app to run and receive the "outofmemory" error. BByMel said he would have a new version for me to try shortly.

Question Level 1 Notifications? - 03-26-2007, 11:20 AM

I've been watching this thread for a while now and have tested the product with successful results. For me, the functionality that is there is flawless, but the one question that I have is: Can Level 1 Notification alerting be expected any time soon?

The Level 1 Notification, as stated earlier in other posts, is critical for my use as well. I have many messages redirected to the BB with Level 1 Notification, and not getting an escalated alert on those messages can pose a serious problem.

I will be looking at purchasing 4-6 copies of the product if there is some estimate on the Level 1 Notification.

Thanks,

Sorry if this was mentioned already, but TIM and Telstra recently released their new OS (v4.2.1.102 ) for the Pearl. I am running the Telstra version on my T-Mobile 8100. BBAlerts 1.3 is running good and stable.

I bought my copy of BB Alerts from Handango. Do I download the updates to the software from there? Is there an Email alert when new version/bugfixes are out? Is there a website for downloading?

Kind regards

Alex

I get the same error on an 8700c. It just started happening after I installed the latest 1.4 version.

Should still be getting errors so if it's working on 8700 not a good idea to upgrade.

My company's IS department indicated that BB Alerts conflicts with the DST patches. When I received various errors, it finally died and they had to rebuild. Needless to say, I will not be using BB Alerts anymore.

Besides the fact that I've got both the patch and Alerts working very well on my 8100... AFAIK, BBAlerts doesn't interact with the date & time at all. The app and the patch are unrelated. How could it possibly conflict?

Not sure how they made the determination, but I do work for the government and their patches are not the standard patches for the general public. 1.3 worked beautifully until Sunday, when the time changed to DST. I have 8703e and understand others are having similar issues.

All of my SMS alerts are using a Red LED no matter what colour I have assigned. Is this an error or am I doing something wrong?

Cheers

Under options make sure program controls LED is checked on.

Yeah I'm not sure what's up with the 8700 series issues, ran some tests with linuxcluster and the out of memory error occurs very quickly. As to what's up with the DST patch I think maybe some other stuff was changed depending on what OS version you had?

As someone mentioned BB Alerts doesn't really depend on date or time other than to time stamp the logs.

I was able to get the 1.3 trial version from Handango installed on my 8703e but was not able to get the newest 1.4 versions posted here to work. I get an Out of Memory error with the new version.

My question is, what has changed between 1.3 and 1.4 and am I missing anything critical (or cool)?

I really don't want to whinge but unfortunately after much testing I am at a bit of a loss. I have the 8100 and have bought and installed 1.4. I cannot help but feel that this causes some instability issues. Last night I was fiddling with the Schedule options (not logical to my way of thinking). After resetting all of the options I realised that I was not receiving SMS messages any longer. Looked at all sorts of areas for help and then uninstalled BBAlerts and hey presto started working again. Other issues that I have seen are:

Unable to assign any colour to SMS alerts

Cycle does not seem to be reliable and only works for eMails and missed calls (sometimes)

I really am gutted not to be using the software as I think it is great and just what I want but feel that I am unable to use the present version. PLEASE fix it as my Blackberry just isnt the same without it!

Yours in hope!!!

1.3 seems pretty stable, it's the version on Handango.
Also here:
http://bbymel.servebbs.com/13/BlackBerryAlerts.jad

Only feature difference between 1.3 and 1.4 is that 1.4 lets you assign 2 custom colors. There are other differences to try and make it compatible with the new OS release 4.2.1 but these differences are causing problems with older versions for now.

Schedule is confusing I think because of the "alert outside of interval" but this is necessary if you wanted to not have alerts during lunch - so you would set interval from 12pm to 1pm and alert outside of interval.

Thanks BByMel! I thought that I should be running the latest version. I checked my 8100 and I seem to be on ver 4.2 anyway (Uk???)

I have reinstalled 1.3 and will have a go.

Fingers crossed! The alerting is what the BB should have been in the 1st place!

Kind regards

Alex
