Default Blackberry Alerts 1.65 on Bold (9000) - 10-01-2008, 10:12 AM

I recently installed BlackBerry Alerts 1.65 on my Bold (9000). The LED does not seem to be working. When I run the LED test nothing happens on the device.

Is anyone using BlackBerry Alerts successfully on the BB Bold?

-Ken

P.S. "e-Mobile Alerts: Calls, Emails, SMS and more!" looks like a potential replacement if I can't get BB Alerts to work on the Bol. Has anyone tried it?

I'm not running a Bold but have been using BB Alerts for a year and a half or so now...

Are your permissions set to Allow so that BB Alerts can control the LED?

Hi Ken,

I have a Bold and have BB Alerts 1.65 loaded and running very well. I have it set for purple - emails, yellow - miss calls and voicemail, cyan - text...all work very well. The only setting that does not work is PIN...but that actually never worked for me on my curve either.

Good luck,

Cheers

PIN doesn't work on my Curve either. Does anyone know if any updates to this app will be released soon?

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Yes, I may have typed too soon. I don't know what I did but it does seem to be working now. I have not tested it thoroughly yet. This is my favourite BB app and I'm glad to read/see it working on the Bold.

Default Feature Request - 10-02-2008, 02:10 PM

BBMel,

I am having difficulty getting the filters to work. I don't know the reason but one way which would help me figure it out is if the screen which lists the alerts you could also add details on which filter triggered the particular email alert.

In the meantime, some instructions on how to use the alerts would be useful. The application worked perfectly on my Blackberry 8800 but now I am having trouble getting the same results on my Bold so some additional debug tools would be super-useful.

Just a thought.

Thanks,
Ken

What does the filter actually do. I can only enter an email address. Does this exclude it from the alerts or include it. Can anything be changed in regard to the alerts.

For example I would like to have alert settings for one from address and one for other addresses.

After upgrading from 1.61 to 1.65 on my girlfriend's 8100, the LED will occasionally get stuck solid on. Either red (which is set to no service indication) or pink (which is set to text message notification).

Anyone else experiencing behavior similar to this?

Yes, I have and still do. The only thing that resolves it for me is a battery pull. Mine normally get stuck after I've received a voicemail.

JiveTalk has their own alert. Go into JiveTalk > Options, and somewhere towards the middle-bottom there's an option for light.

Not for Jivetalk, I'm afraid. I'd like to have the same thing, but doesn't seem to exist yet.

BB Alerts seems only to do repeating alerts for the built-in BB events, like SMS, Email, Calendar, etc...

It seems to work, but I am not getting the color LED to work.

On the bright side of things, I emailed support for a new reg code and he emailed me back the same day. Great service!

/EDIT

The "Test LED" setup does not flash the LED :(

Bold running .167 with BBAlerts 1.65 work fine for me. If it did not, the Bold would have been returned. BBAlerts is the most important software on my phone.

I was wondering if you got the Email Filter to work. I am getting so many false positives, it is not funny. I have both the missed email and the filter options selected. If I had just the filter option selected, I never got notified. Is this how you have your setup?

no, my setup is to Notify on Missed SMS with Audio every 1 minute. I need nagging sms reminders because i have system alerts sent to me from a few different datacenters that i support. 1 beep at 3 am would not wake me up

doesn't seem to work consistently on the Storm. I was able to install it and do the initial set up, and it seemed to work for a while. However, after a reboot, it doesn't seem to work anymore. If I use the application switcher to switch to it, I have to dismiss the trial dialog (I haven't gotten a reply yet about switching my registration to my new Storm), and I can't do much because the screen is stuck in portrait mode and I can't dismiss the suretype keyboard. The half of the screen I can see above the keyboard won't scroll, so I have no way to set any of the options.

Are there any other similar programs out there that are being actively maintained? I saw someone mention "e-Mail Mobile Alerts"... has there been any more experimenting with this?

try disabling compatability mode in Options | Advanced options | Applications. highlight BBalerts and hit the menu button and "Disable compatability mode"

you'll have to reboot for the changes to take effect, as bbalerts is always running in the background...

ah, good call breakerfall.... that got rid of the keyboard. looks like all my settings were reset, probably a result of installing 4.7.0.75 earlier today. i'll continue to monitor how it functions. hopefully they'll send me my new reg # soon... the trial message is a bit annoying.

Where are you looking to get it from? If you have the trial, all you need to do is purchase the full version from places like Handango.com.

If you need to download it again OTA, the link is listed above somewhere or I can find it for you.

I would send BByMel a private message and see where you can purchase it. I know he is still around and supporting the application since we just exchanged emails a few days ago.

Question about compatibility.
Has anyone had any problems with BBAlerts being incompatible with other apps? Before I try it, I'm just wondering if it conflicts with other like apps. I have Aerize Alerts, and Photo Caller ID Deluxe (by Javatek for full screen caller id) that I'm particularly concerned about.

Peace,

Kamau

Have you gone through the help pages on the author's site?

For example, if the number that the SMS is being sent to and your number don't match up perfectly (including 1 and spaces), there may be problems detecting the SMS.
