It would be great if there was a way to test the custom colors. Also, do you know if the yellow will work on an 8700c? When I have the reminder setup for that, the reminder does not show up.

Let's keep our fingers crossed, I hope ByMel figures out level 1....

By the way, if you can get them to send the messages with the important flag up you can make this program work.

Has anyone had any issues with the LED lighting, while using the application. I've noticed that sometimes I'll have no LED light. Usually my light is green, showing that I have coverage. If I receive an E-Mail, I have it set to alert me with a white LED. Once an E-Mail is received, I get the white LED, that turns off after I click on any button. However, if I don't read the E-Mail, my green light doesn't come back. After I've read it, the green light comes back (usually after a few seconds). Is this design or do I have an error in my install?

Also, does anyone know what separate profiles mean? When I tried to use it, I got an error.

Default LED Lighting - 02-11-2007, 03:33 PM

Ok...so with further testing, I've noticed that the green light does not come back if I miss a call. It will glow red, to alert me that I've missed the call. Once I've check the call, it does not glow again, until I recieve an email. I'm sure another type of message will set it off again, but I find it strange that all LED action ceases until I receive some type of message. If I do receive another call during this time period, it will glow red again, but after this the LED gives no indication again. Any thoughts?

This is to assign different ringtones and notifications on the programs profiles. You might have a nug as it works for me on my pearl.

I do notice a number of issues with v1.4.

1. When my Bluetooth headset attached or unattached from the 8700c, I get a reminder light.
2. The reminder light has gone on other times and I have no idea of what is generating it. can you put in Reminder: (task, calendar, etc) so we know what is kicking it off?
3. There is no way to test any of the custom colors.
4. If you choose Yellow for example and you BB does not support it (like the 8700c), then you don't get any notification.
5. The reminders don't always work. I have setup notifications to go off for Tasks and Calendars and I don't always see the reminder light come on. I will not even touch my blackberry for 20 min to see if ti pops up and it does not always. It is very inconsistent. I have not figured out when it does and when it does not alert you.
6. Is there a way to save your settings. Each time you install a new version, you looks your color settings and the option settings. The only thing that is saved is the Schedule settings.

I love this program and have been using it for some time! I like the things that you have done with it since you have taken it over. Keep up the good work and innovation.

I've noticed the same issue with my bluetooth headset. I haven't had the opportunity to test it with my calendar reminders or tasks yet, but I'll see how that works throughout the week. I think this program is awesome, and I love the immediate support. Thanks for listening to and integrating our feedback!!!

Is this version stable like the 1.3 version or just a working model. I know you said it is a work in progress version. Just wondering. I really like this program and got it shortly after i got my Pearl. Thanks for the hard work.

I would guess that you're getting a reminder light, because there is a message box popping up that tells you you've been disconnected/connected from/to your BT headset. At least that's what I think is going on with mine. I also had an issue where my keyboard backlight wasn't coming on when connected with my headset, but that seems to be resolved....strange though.

OK sounds like a lot of issues with the Reminder event. I didn't test bluetooth so I think there is definately an issue there. The pop up for the pairing event is causing the reminder to trigger I think.

Unfortunately I haven't found a better way yet to tell what is causing the event to be triggered.

I think there is another issue with the latest release. The log coloring option doesn't work. Mine is black and white no matter which color option I choose.

I have no issues whatsoever on my pearl.

P.S. It would be nice to preview custom colors.

Actually, I'm using 1.3. I thought I was using 1.4. I just tried to download 1.4 and got an error on install. COD error or something like that.

The name of the install program has been changed to "Missed Call". It gives me a warning about incompatibility, asks me if I want to continue and then fails the download when I select "Yes".

If I look at the details of the failed download, it says "907 Invalid COD", whatever that means.

Hmmm not sure what is up with it... just checked the cod file and it is missing some stuff. Will take down the link and work on a 1.41 or something... lots of problems with the Reminders stuff.

Hi

I agree with you on this YMark as i have the same problem. When i set the colour scheme (under BBAlerts -> options), for example, Blue/Yellow, all i get is Black. This seems to be the same for all the colour schemes. However if you set the colour scheme to user assigned, then you do get the colours working. for example if you set your colour alert to purple, for sms, then it shows the log as for the sms sender with a purple (ish, more of a pink id say) background.

Hope this helps.

regards
wakar

I'm dying to try the custom RGB stuff. Will you have 1.41 available soon? <crosses fingers>

I have been testing it but a big upgrade to the RGB thing is for us to be able to preview it first and avoid the long process of actually having to send a sms to see it,lol.

No idea why but sometimes SMS doesn't work, reinstall usually fixes.

Yeah I guess 1.41 will have to preview the custom color, maybe blink the LED if you have the program set to control LED.

Does the registration code lock to your PIN, which means if I change my BB, I will need to purchase another registration code, thanks.

Yes it's based to your PIN so you would have to buy again or ask if Handango will switch your account to the new PIN.

Thanks, I might just hold off buying ,since the BB8800 will be out in less than a week.

Can you please repost the BBalert 1.41 on your server http://74.109.150.12:8080/14/ , the folder is empty.

Also this folder http://74.109.150.12:8080/12/ are suppose to be version v1.2? I download it yesterday and it is v1.3

1.4 had some problems that are not quite fixed yet. 1.3 is probably the best version right now.

Hmm, maybe some thought should be given to that policy since folks tend to upgrade BBs frequently (some company ordered) or it becomes damaged and needs to be returned. Most other developers provide a new code if you've already purchased the software...pocketday, webmessenger alerts and Shape services to name a few. Not that 13 bucks breaks the bank but...

That notwithstanding, I love the program.

I downloaded the trial version to my Alltel 8703e this weekend and have a couple of issues/problems. I have version 1.3:

First, the voicemail notification doesn't work, but it was fully explained, I think, that it might not. However, I get no SMS notification either and I wondered if that was a system-dependent this with Alltel or whether it was a bug.

(Before I go further, I have deleted and re-installed twice to see if that would help and it didn't.)

Second, starting today, the notifications have been working only occasionally. For instance, I have my voicemail notification set to "blue," but only about every third notification blinks blue. Instead, it seems to have just reverted to the BB default of red, then going back to green after 15 minutes.

I've power-cycled the phone and removed the battery but I'm still having these problems. Any assistance would be appreciated! My trial run ends on Saturday and I'd love to subscribe if I can get it working.

Yes I believe through their webpage they offer a mechanism to switch PINs. If I ever get a webpage up and running, which seems doubtful at this point, then I would probably try to put an automated system in.

I have not heard of Handango not providing a new key for the case of the user changing BlackBerries and currently this is the only place to purchase from.

I think ideally it would be nice to tie the registration to the phone number but I think there are cases where the phone number doesn't get picked up properly.

Odd that your SMS notification does not work and voicemail does as they both use SMS protocol. I would suggest checking your application permission settings and making sure none are set to deny except maybe key injection. You should be able to get their by going to your advanced options and then check the applications option.

Your red led can be turned off by setting repeat notification to none in your blackberry profiles and the green one is probably your in coverage indicator.

I made a typo! My earlier post should have said "might not" rather than "might now." In fact, my voicemail AND sms notifications don't work.

Another question - I want the red notification to work because that's how I get notified for sms since the sms doesn't work. Won't shutting it off cause me to get no notification at all for sms?

I'm sure you've probably already done this, but since I made this mistake when I first used this app:

Did you go into Options and check the "Program Controls LED" box?

I made the same mistake initially, too! But, yes, that is checked. Thanks for responding, though.

ok I found the answer..

But I do have a suggestion.. I would love to see a feature that is like the "notifire" program.. I have attached a screen shot of what it looks like when I get a SMS message. I like the pop up notification like this..

right now I am using the 2 programs together to make a GREAT experience

Are you sure you have the pop notification box selected on the options page? If not, select it and then stop and restart the app.

Bought the app and am enjoying it. One question, should the alert light be dismissed when I remove my BB from the holster? That happens now and wondered if this was by design or not. Have an 8700c and running 4.1 with no real issues except no popups either. Also wonder if there is thought about some kind of alarm timeout that could be set for stopping the alert after some selectable time like at night to keep the battery from discharging?

I can't comment on an LED timeout (the OS controls when it turns off, so I don't know if BByMel can force it to stop), but the LED will not drain your battery.
