Great app, thanks Marc

This is a great application, and I think it is the smartest layout (easy to use)as a way to keep track of your confidential information. I travel often, and I have found it is critical for me to have my passwords and account logins with me, but it scares me that if I lost my Blackberry, the information would be accessible to anyone. It is also amazing how many items we all have with all the logins, credit cards, bank accounts, etc....it's a lot to remember!! Ascendo Datavault solves that problem in a first-class, secure way. I have also tweaked the "Edit Permissions" to minimize ("Deny") any chance of online access to the information. The first time you are out of town and need a password for a credit card, you will thank the day you installed this program!

tree view is really slick. do you have any integration with browser like copying user/password over from data vault desktop so you don't have to do it manually?

Version 3.2 Updates
 

Here is a list of things that we added or improved in Version 3.2 of DataVault.

• Auto-create feature to allow users to add an Item in DataVault automatically by right-clicking on a web form and selecting the "Save to DataVault" option in the IE context menu.
• Added Auto-fill feature to automatically populate fields in a web form. Example, click on Hotmail Item, DataVault opens IE, goes to URL, enters username and password in the appropriate fields.
• Added field masking button to all fields in DataVault Desktop, see below.
• Added copy-to-clipboard button next to all Items in DataVault Desktop. If you click on it the contents of the value field are copied to the Windows clipboard and can be pasted to other applications.
• Added Deleted Item log to DataVault menu.
• Eliminated DataVault password request each time the BlackBerry Desktop Manager Synchronization option is chosen.
• Added Option setting for Default Start-up View; Tree, List or Last view before application exit.
• Added Option setting for Exit Alert in case user wants to be prompted before quitting the application using Escape button.

DataVault, Version 3.3
 

Here is a list of things that we added or improved in Version 3.3 of DataVault.

• Added icons that can be displayed with Items and Templates, bringing total to 100 icons, see below.
• Added Export to CSV feature.
• Increased maximum field length from 60 to 255 characters for storing long field values like URL.
• Added word wrap ability to Desktop Notes field.
• Added About screen "More Information" button that starts BlackBerry browser and goes to Ascendo where helpful information can be viewed in pages optimized for mobile.
• Added field masking to Desktop List View.
• Corrected Help option to Open User Guide in PDF format from DataVault Desktop.
• Added animation on exit from DataVault.

Here is a list of things that we added or improved in Version 3.4 of DataVault.

• Added "Drag & Drop" for Items and Types in DataVault desktop tree view.
• List view now displays entries in alphabetical order on BlackBerry and desktop.
• Added open/closed folder icons to DataVault desktop to denote expanded or collapsed tree level.
• Added option to remove toolbar from view in DataVault desktop to make more space for entries.
• User Guide is now part of the installation executable and places PDF in right directory automatically so you can open it from the DataVault desktop.
• Improved usability of Import from CSV file.
• Improved usability of Auto-Add in DataVault desktop.
• Fixed bugs with Cryptmagic and SplashID Import feature.

This is the only password app I use now!

How does this compare to Minisafe? My trial expired and I need to get a password program.

I haven't tryed Minisafe, but I switched from Cryptmagic to this app, its the best one I have used

I've downloaded and I am currently manually transferring data over to the DataVault. This does seem like a nice app.

I do have one recommendation to the creator/programmer of the software.

You need to make the program have the ability to be able to make a template to where you can globally set a FIELD to be masked automatically. I have a few custom templates I made or altered existing ones and it's a pain trying to go and keep hitting the mask button if I want a field to always be masked. If I create or change a template you need to add the option of a check box to make it a Masked field going forward.

I wasn't sure if this was a request anyone has made yet. You can do this in Minisafe Desktop software.
And maybe add a Birthday, Calling card, and Voice mail (template type) into a newer version if you haven't thought of it. I already created a template but these are also in MiniSafe. Also create a birthday cake icon for the Birthday template. I used the present icon but the cake is cool! And also create a generic template for a credit card as well. And when you are in the Manage template box, you need to add another button below to be able to duplicate a template vs having to pick one change the info and then re-save. It would be easier to duplicate it from the main manage template window. Just a thought. Great app though.

• Added ability to set or move directory in which the data file is stored.Implemented screen keyboard as an alternative way to enter passwords. This is useful if you suspect that a key logger is active on your computer.
• Added ability to print items.
• Implemented user preference to display complete record automatically if your search list is reduced to 1 item.
• Added ability to initiate a call from a telephone number stored in DataVault for BlackBerry.
• Added ability to open browser and go to a URL stored in DataVault for BlackBerry.
• Improved Tree view so that only relevant categories and types are displayed as search list is reduced.

Synchronizing
 

I hope someone can help me with this problem. Last evening I installed the pc version and BB version. I filled in all my password info, etc and went to sync with my BB. I check the config in sync and it does show the datavault program, but when I did the sync, nothing sync'ed. My outlook calendar did sync but not the data vault. I am using Desktop Manager 4.2 and my BB is 7105t with 4.1.
