Default Shark Modem & Messneger Programs

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I have gotten Shark Modem 2.0 to work via USB connection to my laptop. I can surf the net using IE when I setup the proxy.

However I cannot login with any of my messenger programs, specificly Yahoo & MSN. I setup the proxy in them, I can see the connections being attempted in the shark modem status on the laptop but they both fail to connect.

Does anyone have any idea why or enountered a similiar problem?

I'm using a phone though a BES/MDS as well.

Thanks

I've found the same thing. The problem seems to be that Shark Modem doesn't handle HTTPS connections. That's why the Yahoo! login won't work.

Same thing for Yahoo! mail - although, if you login to Yahoo! mail using a regular connection, then you can check and read your mail using a Shark Modem connection.

Definitely not worth the asking price (IMHO) with that limitation.

I am in contact with Mobishark support re problems accessing HTTPS sites. They claim that HTTPS site access is supported in Version 2. So far no luck for me, I'm hopeful that I have a setting that needs to be changed, or something simple such as that.

Anyone know what's changed with 2.0 vs 1.34 versions other than adding BT support to USB.

Wirelessly posted (8700c: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Loaded Yahoo and Yahoo Mail beta this am no issues. Seems much more stable and reliable. It did crash once and I did have to change my IE settings to localhost. Manual says you don't need to I think.

Angry HTTPS sites with Shark

I have some problem with 2.2 version of Shark Modem.
I canít access only HTTPS sites. From my BB all works correctly.

I have just checked:

-Allow External Connection IT policy on my BES
-Open 443 (https) port (in mono-directional mode, only from my BES to SRP srvÖis suff??)
-Reset settings into Firewall option on my BB

Is there some BES settings that can I verify?

Any suggest or idea?

Thanks
Andre
