I have no use for it but I will send you an e-mail...

I don't know why RIM did not include it and I feel that's one feature that is missing from the phone.

Works great. Couple of quick comments:

1. Can we have some control over playback volume?
2. Likewise, some control over mic sensitivity?
3. Likewise control over quality vs. time?
4. Love to be able to move files around. Perhaps switch to the media card.

Actually it does a very good job of recording voice at whatever sample rate you are using. I figure that the default 10 mb would be good for app 100 min of record time at a reasonable level of quality.

Good job a must have app for the 8100.

Thanks for the invite

Just want to say that this works great! Some features I requested which they say will be in later versions:
Send message via email
Store on card/move between memory and card
... that's basically it.

I've installed and set my left button to launch the app. Sweet!

Some suggestions:

* Allow the user an option to 'automatically save' the recording. The recording is started/person speaks/recording stopped>save with date/time stamp. This saves the user from an additional task, saving the recording. This would be a nice option. The current setup appends new recordings to the existing recording, which is also nice. Maybe a checkbox 'automatically save new recordings' to autosave new recordings; turning off the box gives the user this (default) append arrangement.

* Delete key doesn't delete recordings; this should be allowed (via 'are you sure' prompt)

* Allow the user to change background color or graphic.

* Allow user to select multiple recordings from the list screen (maybe there's a way to do this; I'm new to the blackberry platform, don't know how to multiselect yet).

* The 'Blackberry' menu doesn't have the 'switch application' option. I need to a) make voice note, then b) shoot photo. Would be more helpful to switch between these 2 apps than be forced to go back to desktop for the camera.

Back to work

I installed the APP tonite without any problems...this program is alot nicer then the standard voice send program that came with my BB...the playback was very clear and loud. also recording time i stopped at 2 minutes and it was still going so there is plenty of recording time. its nice in that you can pause and then go back to it, not like the original voice program i have where once you stop you either send or discard the cvoice not. As for suggestions as some have already said: 1)ability to move files between media card 2) ability to change the background although the colors were vibrant and nice. 3) nicer icon ?

Great Program.
Only thing to add is option to store to memory card. Otherwise extremely useful program.

Default Can't you already do this on the Pearl without aftermarket software? - 01-21-2007, 03:23 PM

Hi, I searched for voice notes blackberry 8100 on Google and there is apparently already a way to do this on the blackberry 8100 without using aftermarket software.

Can you please explain how your product is an improvement?

Here's what I got off Google: you basically create one address book entry (only once). Then, for each voice note you want to make, you pretend to send it to this address book entry, but save it as a draft. Then, the Pearl lets you listen to your drafts. They are already annotated by you and timestamped automatically. That's it.

Here's the text. Again, it's on Google.

The Blackberry 8100 does not include a voice memo feature. But you can use the Send Voice Note app for a simple and quick way to input voice notes. Here's what to do:

1: Make an address book entry with the first name of "Voice Memo". Enter only a dummy email address into the Voice Memo entry. Use [email address]

2: Open the Send Voice Note application. Click OK to record your note. When finished, click the Pearl and then click Send as MMS. Find and select your Voice Memo address book entry created above. You can enter a subject if you want to note what the voice memo is about, but you don't have to. Click the pearl, scroll down one and click Save Draft.

Your voice note is now available in the Messages application. It's timestamped, labeled as a Voice Memo, and shows the subject you entered above. To play it, just open it and click Play.

When you want to record another voice memo, your Voice Note address book entry should be pre-selected so you can just click on it without having to find it again.

I agree 100%. I'd choose to store to the MicroSD card instead if it were an option.

Otherwise I have no complaints.
