Dear c3po25,
One registration key of MultiAlarm will work on only that device whose PIN is mentioned during the purchase. So you will not be able to use it on more than one device. We recommend you to install in on the BB which you carry with you more often.

Thanks.

Coupon received, nice discount, registered yesterday. Being able to set multiple alarms using multiple profile tones is what sets this app apart from ToDoMatrix alarms.

I have found this program to be very useful. The support team at Mobylo are great to work with also. I had a couple of issues during the final installation and they were both very responsive and helpful.

MultiAlarm 3.0 trial installation is broken when replacing the preview version 1.0.x (at least for me on my 7100). In fact, it is so broken that it is now impossible to uninstall MultiAlarm fully or even install any other version of MultiAlarm on my 7100. Let me explain further, perhaps someone can help.

Like everyone else using the preview version (1.0.something?), on the 20th we got a message saying the preview was expired. So I went to m.mobylo.com on my device's browser and downloaded the trial version of 3.0 OTA (after selecting the appropriate OS version, 4.1 in my case). After selecting "Download", I was asked by my device if I wanted to replace the existing version, which I did. After downloading, I was prompted to restart my device. After restart, there were now 2 icons for MultiAlarm so I assumed that the 1.0.x version was not uninstalled properly when 3.0 was installed (the text under each did not indicate which icon represented which version).

Selecting one icon would lock up my device for about 20 seconds, but other than that nothing would happen (i.e., no error messages or anything else -- literally nothing would happen except that my device was unresponsive for about 20 seconds). Selecting the other icon would result in an error message:
Quote:
Error starting MultiAlarm41: Class 'com.mobylo.blackberry.alarm.AlarmSettings' multiply defined
Well, I figured the problem was that I didn't fully uninstall the preview version before updating to the new version. So I went to Options->Advanced->Applications to uninstall MultiAlarm. In the list, only the new version was present, even though my device clearly shows 2 MultiAlarm icons. Not having any other choice, I selected to uninstall version 3.0.41.4. I was then told that my device would have to be restarted to complete the removal, so I clicked OK and my device restarted.

However, there is now still a MultiAlarm icon present (!), which I presume is the preview version, but going into the Applications list again does not show MultiAlarm at all. Connecting the device to Desktop Manager and pulling up Application Loader also does not list MultiAlarm. Now when the icon is selected on the device I get this error message:
Quote:
Error starting MultiAlarm: Module 'HolidaySettings' not found.
So I tried to re-install version 3.0. However, the situation is the same: I still have 2 icons, and the first error message is still displayed when one is selected and the device temporarily freezes when the other is selected, and still only 1 MultiAlarm version is listed so I can't uninstall it fully.

I'm sure the problem was that I didn't properly uninstall the preview version first, but at this point I just want to clean my device of the thing. Any help would be appreciated.

Try removing the "MultiAlarmxx" module (where xx is the version number installed) from: Options > Advanced > Applications > Modules

Arrow Incorrect installation of v3.0 - 01-22-2007, 12:22 PM

Dear Obijohn,

This is because, as you said, the previous version of MultiAlarm was not uninstalled from your device before you installed the new version. The answer is this -

1. Download a utility that we have written specifically for this issue; installing version 3.0 over version 2.0 on 4.1 OS! Download this utility OTA from http://m.mobylo.com/w.php
2. Launch this utility - it shows you both the version of MultiAlarm installed on the device and HolidaySettings if any.
3. Select each one-by-one and click on Delete. (The Modules will be deleted, although the list is not refreshed.)
4. Reset your Device.

Now you can install version 3.0 afresh!
OTA: http://m.mobylo.com
Desktop: http://www.mobylo.com

Also, it is requested that in case of any issues please remember to contact [email address] They are informed, equipped and eager to answer all issues.

Thanks!

Dear denness544,

This could be due to a few reasons;
1. Discount codes for the day are sent out the next day.
2. Sometimes if we have more than one email ids for someone, it is possible that discount was mailed only to one of those emails.
3. Also, please remember to check your Bulk folders because some spam filters may filter your code out as spam and put it in your Bulk folders!

Thanks!

So let me get this straight. A second product had to be written to fix the installation problems caused by the new version? I'm not trying to be rude, but I've had my device for 2.5 years and this is the first time I've ever seen something like this. Shouldn't the new version be able to detect the previous version and clean up after itself without the user having to manually uninstall the previous version first?

Dear Obijohn,

In short the answer to your question is Yes.

This issue occurs on certain builds of 4.1 OS. Because of the way installation & uninstallation data is maintained by the OS, sometimes partial uninstallation can happen. Then you have to do things like going to Modules & deleting it one by one, resetting the device etc. The utility intends to save the user from having to do all this. That is why it is recommended that this utility be used in case you get these errors on 4.1.

If there are any issues please feel free to ask; we will be glad to assist you.

Thanks.

A great software. I would like to know what is your policy on the license. If we upgrade our Blackberry with a different pin, will your software still work or does it require another purchase? I somehow remember that you do not support switching bb. Could you please clarify?

Thanks!

Dear Pengarus,

Thanks for the kind words!

MultiAlarm key is tied to the PIN hence one key will work only on a device with a particular PIN. However, we do have a Device Change Plan which is offered with some of our products so we expect that it would apply in MultiAlarm case as well. We suggest to write to support so that they can send you the complete details of this plan, and explain the cases in which it can be applied or used.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, the Device Change Plan does require you pay extra in order for you to migrate to a new BB. There are many BB software vendors provide free upgrade and migrate when owner change their BB.

Hi, I am Misha from Mobylo! I would like to post some clarifications regarding the Device Change Plan to help everyone understand it better.

What it is:
Device Change Plan allows you to get a new license key even if your device gets 'so much' damaged that it is not possible for us to recall the license and migrate it to the new device. It is NOT required if you are upgrading to a new device and your older device is in working order.

Whom it is offered to:
We generally offer the Device Change Plan along with bulk deals, mostly to corporate customers. There is a higher probability of these devices getting damaged, compared to owned devices. Moreover, in corporate deployments the urgency of migrating applications to new device is also higher.

How much does it cost:
It costs only $5 USD for this plan and if opted for, needs to be purchased along with the product. We believe, this is similar to other protection services like for ex, the Download Protection Service offered by Handango.

So, if you are upgrading to a new device you need not worry about it. In most cases, we are able to migrate the license to the new device without any issues. I hope that clarifies some of the doubts regarding the Device Change Plan.

Regards,
Misha

I received the discount code and just bought it. Love it! I've been searching far and wide for a custom alarm clock such as Mobylo's Multi-alarm. Finally found just what I've been looking for. Thanks!
