Default removing .cod files - 12-08-2006, 08:31 PM

I have an 8700g and do not see the pre installed language files in DM 4.2.
How do I delete these?
I do not have nearly 250 .cod files installed, just lots of themes about 15 and about 6 apps

Exclamation 12-20-2006, 09:27 PM

ok i have Verizon and a 7130e. its been completely wiped. i've removed the IT policy. i'm downloading BBweather 0.74. i've installed it, tried it w/ and w/out MDS Proxy enabled. if its not enabled i get the msg, "The application BBweather has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy." HOW can i still be getting that msg when there is NO MENTION of an IT policy in Options/SecurityOptions/General Settings......

i've rebooted tons of times. uninstalled and reinstalled the app, all w/ the same results.....please, please help.....i really want to use this app....thanks!!!

I used the following steps btw to remove the IT policy:

Step 1

Ensure the Blackberry Desktop Manager is installed using Blackberry Internet Service, and not Blackberry Enterprise Server. If you are unsure, it would probably be a good idea to uninstall the Desktop Manager and start again.

If you don't have the CD that came with your Blackberry, the Software can be downloaded here.

Step 2 Download the file policy.bin and save it in your Blackberry installation directory (C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry).

Step 3
Wipe your Blackberry, creating a backup if necessary. Select Options/Security/Wipe on the Device.

If this option is unavailable, you may have to install the latest software on your Blackberry. You need to Download and install the latest Desktop Manger Software, then the latest Handheld Software. Connect your device, open the Desktop Manager, select Application Loader, and follow the prompts.

Step 4 Close the Desktop Manager if it is open.

Step 5 From the Windows Start Menu select Run..., and at the prompt type regedit. In the tree on the left hand side, navigate to: HKEY_Current_Users\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\PolicyManager Right-Click the Policy Manager Folder and select New/String Value. Name the value Path. Now, Double-Click the Path Subkey and set Value Data to: C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\policy.bin

Step 6 Open the Desktop Manager.
Step 7 Connect the Device.

Default BBweather Works for Australia - 08-04-2007, 03:35 AM

Ok for all you Ozzies out there I got BBweather working on the 8800.

1. Install the app and make sure you follow these help points found HERE

2. Click HERE to find out your Weather Location ID in Australia. The ID for Sydney is ASXX0112

3. Now I'm on BES with work so I tried both option for "Disable MDS Proxy" and they both worked with the TCP setting set to telstra.internet. It didn't work with TCP set to internet.com (as received form work) and with the "Disable MDS Proxy" ticked, I received the tunnel error. But when I un-ticked "Disable MDS Proxy" it worked.

I have installed this program on my 8100e Blackberry. It seems to install just fine but I keep getting this error as follows: Error: Expecting an Element.

Anyone know why? Thanks.

Lightbulb T-Mobile Apn - 02-28-2008, 08:40 PM

This is the T-mobile APN for everyone having problems with the BBWeather Application. Here is step by step what to do.

1.Change your apn in the options TCP Settings
APN = wap.voicestream.com
Log/Pass leave blank

2.Load BBWeather
3.Hit the Trackball
4.Go to options
5. Set up your location by highlighting it and hitting the menu button
6. You weather ID is your zip
7. Location name is whatever, LA, Las Vegas
8. Save that
9. Disable the mds Proxy
10. Save that
11. Enjoy!

Took me a little while to figure this out for the T-mobile crowd out there! I am running it on a Curve 8320 Works great! Looks like the weathernetwork.com has a traffic and weather one coming soon too! Hope this helps!

In the Options panel, check the box for "Disable MDS Proxy" and give it another shot.

And Welcome to the community!

Press the trackball once to clear the error, then click the trackball again to bring up the menu to set a location. The location ID is a zip code, (US). A postal code? for other countries. Someone else can jump in.

Default immediate problems - 07-29-2008, 10:56 AM

So I have used BB Weather in the past, liked it but it repeatedly had problems so one day I got p-o'ed and removed it. It's been a while and I'm over that initial frustration so I now reinstalled it.

Now if I go to start the app it immediately gives me a "Error: No Weather Profiles specified" message and freezes up -- no buttons do anything. The only thing I can do is a battery pull.

??? What the heck is wrong with this application ???

Dont touch your menu button.

When you first install, keep clicking on the trackball. It will work.
