Thumbs up Widget Program!! - 01-17-2007, 08:06 AM

***FIRST OFF! i learned of this program from fsantiago36, so credit for introducing this app to the forum goes to him, i am just writing this how-to for it**

VERY cool app, it feels very mac-ish, has some cool animation, and runs smooth, when you download it the pearl comes up as the 8700 but runs perfectly.

For Some reason the actual pearl does not work as the select though, you have to use the qw key.

Now heres the thing... supposedly this app does not work with nextel and tmobile USA, but with the help of someone in their forum it does now work with Tmobile USA.

So here are the steps,

1) download the app OTA in your bb browser at Widsets

2) you dont have to sign up for a username and password, when you
download the app, your phone is assigned a username and password.
so when you first load the app on your phone hit options and
select "website". Here it will show you your username and password that
you will enter at widset.com to add widgets and validate your email , etc.

www.widsets.com is your desktop in a sense, thats where you will do all your adding and customizing, and moving around and etc.

The app has this awesome scrolling feature where you scroll left to right and feels abit like you have a dashboard on your pearl.

Now remember this app is still in beta and there are some UI bugs, for example... when you select "website: from the options menu to get your username and password, the back option does not work so you have to close the app and restart it...

Try it out!!

OK, I've played a bit. First thing I did was make a widget for the BB Forums, and publish it so we can all get to it.

The controls in this app were certainly not made for the 8100. For instance, the right key option (usually "Back") never works. Also, clicking with the trackball doesn't work much either. Usually I have to press enter. When navigating in the menu, in order to save my settings changes, I had to press the menu button and choose "Cancel," of all the strange things.

That said, I think anyone who uses RSS feeds will probably like using this app once they get it set up the way they want it.

Crupp-

If you're familiar with the Opera mini browser on your Blackberry, it works essentially the same way as far as keys go. The "Q" key will pull up the options and also works to select an item when highlighted.

When in doubt, empty the magazine...
