10 pounds a Mb is A LOT to pay for data!! It's highway robbery!!

K, perhaps he can reduce usage by reducing the "minutes to idle" to one? does that put polling into "sleep mode"? And what would cause it to go idle? Just time in the holster? I've always noticed that my logged in accounts never go to "Away"" status unless I manually set it. Are they supposed to?

Default 8703e - Conection loss

Since upgrading to my 8703e from a 7250 I now can't keep a 24/7 connection. Not every, but most mornings when I check JT I have found that it has unceremoniously quit, but is easy enough to restart.

This is not a tragic for me but am passing along.

When you say quit, do you mean that IM account is disconnected or do you mean the program has actually shutdown and isn't running anymore? You'll see the splash screen you reopen the program after it has shutdown.

Service wise you're running AIM?

From time to time, I receive the "TimeOut" error after my MSN / Google talk logged in for a while. Is it a server issue or my carrier issue?

Wirelessly posted (8703e Sprint: BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/104)

Finding new features every day. I love the customized status.

The data usage logging is great.

One question: What is a pounce?

pounce is kind of the alert. It shows you a notification when one of your contacts gets online.

The program fully exits, and service wise I'm running all services. But like I said it's not every day so I can't lay a finger on a constant that might be a cause.

It has been fine for the last 48 hours though.

As for backups, we're adding a chat log dump feature that will allow you to save history, likely to a SD card if available. The safest way for you to do a backup, however, is to use your desktop manager and backup the device. It's pretty quick and you're generally guaranteed to be able to get back to a good state. I would recommend doing this regularly anyway, especially if you're on BIS and your PIM data doesn't sync OTA, as it will save your data for all your applications.

Not trying to say that we don't want solve the problem here, just that whatever solution we come up with here will not be as foul-proof as the backup capabilities you already have with the desktop manager.

Ah, but please don't forget that a lot of us are on desktop platforms (e.g. Mac OS X) that RIM hasn't published a desktop manager for.

Double-check that your 8703e isn't actually resetting (as if you pulled the battery and put it back)

Since I started using JiveTalk I have been having occasional resets. It doesn't seem to happen as much as it used to, but it still happens.

I've poseted about it a few times, and sent e-mail to support, but never received any reply about it from kai.

My 8703e has been rebooting since I started using JiveTalk 0.5.21. The unit will do a full reset, with the hourglass while it starts up again.

It doesn't happen all the time, but every few days. It was happening a lot less, but with 0.92 it seems to be happening more.

Kai,

after i installed 1.0, I found out there is an icon on the home screen (i use ZEN theme). It looks like a Yahoo "simily" face icon with "1" next to it.

I wonder if it is from JiveTalk? I have not installed any other 3rd party program other than JiveTalk in last night thou.

How can I remove that icon from my home screen?

p.s. I also sent the above msg to you via PM as well.

Default Release of JiveTalk 1.0 and End of Beta Period

We are happy to announce the 1.0 release of JiveTalk (see release notes). This marks the end of our beta period for JiveTalk for BlackBerry.

We want to thank all of you who have helped us along the way. Your feedback and suggestions have been extremely valuable in making JiveTalk a better product.

Now some logistical details on the 1.0 release and our pricing structure going forward:

As an introductory offer, we're making JiveTalk available for $19.95 for a device license, and $29.95 for a full user license. In summary, a device license is a perpetual license tied to a single device, non-transferable, whereas a full user license is a perpetual license tied to the user and full transferable across devices. Both licenses only require a one-time fee (no subscription) and include free software upgrades (following the same update process used during in the beta period). See our website for more details.

We will also offer a free 30-day trial for JiveTalk. This is a no-obligation trial of fully functionaly software; the trial period starts later this week, at which point your beta license will automatically revert to a 30-day trial license.

This has been a very enjoyable beta process for our team at BeeJive. While somewhat sad to see the beta end, over the coming weeks and months, we will continue to enhance JiveTalk to make it even better. You will see some of the following in future releases:

- File transfers, buddy icons/profiles, better chat logging
- Additional IM services, such as Skype chat and MySpace IM
- Group chat and chat rooms

As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions.

Thanks again,

Kai

Default 1.0.0

Looks great, as usual. Just purchased $30 Full liscense, worth every penny in my mind.

Will 1.0.1 have a homescreen shortcut key?

Thanks for the best IM app, your crew did an amazing job. I just finished deleting all other IM apps from my BB permanently

Cheers

I just deleted all of mine too. JiveTalk is the only IM program that I have loaded now.

Default Transport Question

I believe it was 0.9.0 that added the BIS transport option? Anyway, after the auto-configuration chose this as my transport, messaging seemed MUCH more responsive. Before, when it was set to TCP, there was always a lag (message text would be faint gray before turning full black). Out of curiosity, I was just hoping someone here could explain the technical differences between the two that would lead to explaining why BIS is so much more responsive? Assuming, of course, this is why JiveTalk messaging became much more responsive in 0.9.0

Thanks, I purchased a full user license today, and will agree with everyone else, it's the best multi-IM client for the BB out there. No question.
