Default REXdesktop is now generally available for use with todoMatrix and ideaMatrix - 01-19-2007, 05:32 PM

Just a quick FYI that after 100 days of alpha and early beta testing, we have now made our REXdesktop web access functionality generally available.

REXdesktop is a internet-based server application that allows todoMatrix (task / to-do management application) and ideaMatrix (idea / notes database application) users to work with their databases online using a full screen interface, wirelessly synchronizing changes to their BlackBerry devices. We enabled multiple simultaneous REXdesktop logons, which makes it easy to have a person's executive assistant work with the same databases, if desired, without impacting the primary user's functionality.

REXdesktop supports both PC's and Mac's. Recommended browsers include Microsoft IE 6/7 or Mozilla Firefox 2.

Existing "2006" users must upgrade to the latest application levels to use REXdesktop web access. Please refer to our frequent asked questions (www.REXwireless.com/faq) for the recommended upgrade procedure. Please note that a "backup to web" menu command is required before and after the upgrade to initialize a user's REXdesktop data. After a successful backup, users may logon at (www.REXdesktop.com).

Thanks a lot to all the users that participated in the alpha and early-beta phases of this project. We now have nearly 1,000 people using REXdesktop and it is much better for all the testing it has received.

Thanks and have a great weekend!

REXguys -

Really like REXdesktop... I've had no issues with sync... works great on screen; however, your printing needs an upgrade. Right now, when I go to print, I get tasks with a full color background that eats all the ink in my printer!

While a web interface is great, a portable desktop version would be even better...
Integration with Thinking Rock and/or MyLife Organized would be more than welcome...

Thanks for your note. Yes, we realize that the printing needs improvement, especially since it prints differently depending on whether you are printing your tasks on IE6, IE7, or Firefox. We have already been working on it and expect that we will have improved printing capabilities out in the next few weeks.

Thanks

Thanks for your input.

As a consumer-driven company, we run a good percentage of our development based on the number of "votes" we get for various functionality items. While thinkingrock and mylifeorganized look good, the vast majority of "votes" are for a Microsoft Outlook interface - so that will be our development effort on the PC-based application side this year.

We (obviously) prefer the world-wide-access concept of server-based browser-accessed software like we offer today with REXdesktop.com, but understand that there is a demand for PC-based stuff too.

Thanks,

Default Enhanced PDF Printing added to REXdesktop for todoMatrix and ideaMatrix - 01-31-2007, 06:43 PM

Hi Capri,

As a follow-up, we have added improved printing to REXdesktop.com - we now generate print requests as PDF files, resulting in consistent printouts, no matter which browser is used. A current Adobe Reader (version 7 or better) (free download at Adobe - Adobe Reader Download - All versions) is required.

As an added benefit, because we incorporated a PDF generator, users can now easily save files on their local PC / or forward the PDF files as e-mail attachments if desired.

Thanks,
