Just letting you know that Soft Reset 0.2 works great on 8330 (OS 4.3.0.124) once you've done the install and pulled the battery (hah!)

Great app ... this works just fine on the 8130 Pearl. It is a must have and should start hitting the "top ten must have list" soon if not already!!!

Thanks metfan

On a Verizon 8830 here. Following installation of beta OS 4.5.0.33, SoftReset no longer works. The program halts at:

Uncaught exemption:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException

EDIT: Woah, correction: Still works provided you leave the error message on screen, giving the program enough time to do its thing. The error is only a minor inconvenience.

Thank you for that info! I'm a new BB user and I didn't know this little bit of useful trivia.

Blackberry really needs to publish some better documentation for their devices. Something that lists ALL of the commands and keyboard shortcuts. Whatever happened to the days when you actually got a decent user's manual?

They did publish one. It's on the CD that came with your device.

LOL Great! Thanks for that. I thought it was just an install CD. I guess I should have realized it might be there. The CD is still in my computer even. I still have the mindset that a proper manual is on real paper. I need to get with the modern times already.

doesnot always work for 4.5.x-ers

if you find it so do this
Options-advanced-application
soft reset
edit permission to allow all
then edit DEFAULT PERMISSION and set them all to ALLOW

i hate to make requests to the developer, but it would be a great feature if a single click would reset the BB. on my 8120 with 4.5, i have to make 3 clicks. One for the app, then click on the big 'reset' button, then click on reset now button. it would be useful to me to have the option to click once and forget it. thanks

Help. I have been trying to install said link OTA. How do I? When I click it wants to run/save on my computer, not my phone? Do i have to go to this site from the phone? if so, how do I do that?

This is a nice little app, but if you can remember ALT + right cap + Del,
you can save a little space and an icon.

This application was developed in large part for people with Suretype BlackBerrys (81xx, 82xx); ALT+CAP+DEL does not work on Suretype keyboards.

Great little app. My 8703e has been acting up in the past few days - data stops for no reason and requires a battery pull. Guess it knows its getting replaced with the new Storm.... Softreset saves me from doing a battery pull.

I don't believe ALT+CAP+DEL does as complete a reset as SoftReset or a battery pull. I base this assumption on the fact that, sometimes, ALT+CAP+DEL reset brings the phone back up in just 30 seconds or so, while after a battery pull it takes nearly 2 minutes to come back online.

If you do it TWICE in succession, it does take longer to come back online. You do it the second time just as the screen comes back on and turns WHITE. Do the 3-fingers again, then for a complete reset.
