All,

I loaded Gmail for mobile using OTA installation. All seemed to load OK, but when I try to run the applciaiton I get the following error.

I'm getting this error: "This program requires a data connection, and some BlackBerry devices require reconfiguration to work properly."

It's not reallying telling me what I need to do to fix the issue and I cannot find anything that can help on the Gmail web site.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what your problem would be regarding the installation of the google program...but you can add your gmail account to the BB just like any other push email account.

When I use the Gmail Program, there isn't a notification when I receive a new email, so I really like using it as a regular push email account.

The only part of the Google Program that I like is the Google Maps. Sorry I couldn't have been more help...

I wanted to install it separately as I dont want to mix it with my corporate emails, and I'm happy to check it at irregular intervals.

Any other ideas? Anyone?

Have you guys (girls?) filled in your APN under Options -> Advanced -> TCP? This seems like the most likely suspect as the cause of this error.

You should just set it up as email to your phone. That's the easiest way or you can download opera mini and view your email the way you would on your desktop. Goodluck any further questions my pin is in my signiture.

I'm Running Gmail seperate from my BB Push Mail Apps, The OTA download installs a NEW Gmail Icon onto the Display (or ribbon) - to get mine to work I had to do a hard reset on the 8703e - (hold the power button down for 30 seconds) - Good Luck - I personally like having it seperate because the format on the BlackBerry is exactly like it is on a Windows Desktop.

I installed the Gmail and another version of the GMAIL which it would on the Google Hosted email service. Both run very well.
