I can view the contents of PDFs without any additional software just by opening the attachment. I don't have to do it often, but it worked just fine a couple of days ago. Do you not have that ability?

It depends on the PDF. For example, if I create a PDF from a word doc, it can be read fine. If I create a pdf on our copier, it can't be viewed. Well technically you can view it, but it's not readable unless the text on the page was around 20 point or higher.

We use the server version of Repligo, and it works great, but the non-BES version is $25 per quarter or $80 a year.

Try Beamberry. It's free. BeamBerry - Home
It works great for me. Does word, excel, etc too. You can also save to their server and print via bluetooth for free.

I've been wondering about this tool -- can it simply open a document that's on the SD card, or does it have to be something with an attachment or their server? I'm after the former, not the latter...

Oh, well it's more for the latter. I couldn't get it to open something off of my SD card, only email attachments. It goes through their server too. This is fine for me since I'm not opening any important information, just review sheets and stuff like that for school.
