Default Opera Mini?????

Please Login to Remove!

Hey all,

I noticed that alot of you are using OPERA MINI.... I did a search on it and learned that its a web browser. My question is... the pearl already has a browser so whats the point of DLing another brower that will just take up space? Unless theres something I dont know... please enlighten me!

Also, I noticed alot of people using BBweather... whats so great about it?

If any of you recommend any other MUST HAVE apps, please share!

Thanks!

It displays web pages better and loads them a little bit faster. I don't use BBweather so I cant speak on it.

i use the browser that came with it and i also use opera mini both come in handy...om shows the pages quicker and shows up better but some say the browser that came with it is safer to use since om is a 3rd party app...i gamble so i use one for scores and the other to look up other info...also om is better for myspace...lol...i dont use the weather one u asked about i use the one that came with the phone...

I love opera mini, its great. much much better than bb browser. the pages look better, richer and it actually makes it in order, unlike the bb browser. I wish i could make it the default but couldnt find how to. also, when you use Over the Air download, it has to go into bb browser to get the software, really weird, but better.

Never used bb weather, couldnt figure out how to, it was so complicated the steps and I couldnt find an over the air website to get it.

BBWeather is just a button push to get all the updated weather forecast for your area.

Thanks for the info everyone,

I ended up DLing the app to my pearl but I keep on getting a network issue at the end of the test. To explain, it goes through that 11 step test, and on the 11th final step, it gives me an error like

"network connection failed, etc etc.."

i'm running .64 on my pearl, is it an OS issue? Gotta upgrade?

Go to the Aftermarket Software forum to view other apps that don't come pre-installed, and to view a summary of Opera Mini 3.1

The biggest reason I use Opera Mini is for the RSS feed reader.

The biggest reason I use it is for secure websites. I'm not sure why it works better, maybe the encryption levels it supports, but I can get into my online banking, credit card, and investment sites. All three do not work with the Blackberry browser. I do prefer the Blackberry browse interface though mainly how you can enter data directly into fields (versus the full screen popup on Opera), and the shortcuts (T=Top, B=Bottom, and R=refresh/reload).

Default Uses

Opera Mini, for whatever the reason, can be used more than the defualt becuase of the easy use of the functions. RSS can be managed easier, crtificates are more easily reconized.

I encourage all Mini users to post why they use their Mini browser and what functions they like best.
