OK. As some of you know, I have a chronic illness (Lupus). Because of this, I have a large set of tasks that must be completed by me on a regular basis. I've been searching, but I have yet to see a task application that meets my specific needs. I'm hoping someone out there has seen something like this that I can go buy, so I won't have to write it myself.
I have 50-odd tasks. 90% of these are recurring. Some need to be completed by me several times a day (i.e. "take medicine"), some daily, some weekly, and some monthly. I also have a few one-offs, and a few of my tasks are absolutely critical.
I would like to find a task application that shows my current tasks for the day in one list, the critical ones in red or bold or something. For tasks that occur several times a day, I need all occurrences for that day to show up in the list. (That way I can see at a glance if I've missed a dose.) I don't need to be able to see tomorrow's tasks, or next week's, or next month's. All I care about are things that I have to accomplish today.
When I have completed a task, I want to check it off, and then I want it to disappear from my list
. I have too many tasks to deal with to have things continue to stay in the list once I've checked them off.
I go to sleep, I wake up. When I open my task list the next day, I should see a fresh set of tasks. At that point it no longer matters if I've got incomplete daily tasks hanging out there from the previous day; I can't drink 16 glasses of water today to make up for the 8 I missed yesterday. All complete and incomplete
daily tasks should disappear from my list at midnight, and be replaced by a fresh set for the new day.
Weekly and monthly tasks should refresh themselves in the same manner. If I check off a weekly task, it should stay gone until the following Monday morning.
Ideally, this task list would be sorted by type (daily, weekly, once only, etc.).
What I'm doing now to get this functionality is using a combination of the BB task and calendar apps. The task app, which I use for daily tasks and one-offs is a giant pain in the ... to use because I have to go into each daily and several-times-a-day task every single morning and manually reset the status to "Not Started". There's no way to reset this for every task in the list, so I have to do them one by one.
My weekly and monthly items are in my calendar. I wish they weren't, as they are tasks and not appointments, and they clutter up my calendar quite a bit. I had the daily ones in there too, at one point, but then I ceased to be able to find my appointments in all the clutter!
So... does anybody know of anything like this out there?
