Hi,

Does anybody have an earlier copy of the BBlight software still lurking on their PC that they could email me if I PM them my email, I had to reinstall my software and I prefer the version of BBLight where you simply clicked on the icon to start the light then clicked on the icon to turn off the light (none of these fancy settings!, which I'm sure are great but for what I need the old version was great!

Thanks in advance!

I tried and tried to get around this, but could not. I finally gave up and upgraded to the 7250 which works better anyway and has the TCP/IP stacking built in. I am sure it has to do with that specifically.

I've gotten BBToday to work fine however it won't save any of my preferences (i.e. location id, stock symbols, disable mds proxy, etc.). It also won't save if I try to save the order of each item under options.

Anyone else having this problem?

I just got a BB 7520 and just installed the most recent versions of the BB Tools and I also can't get the BBToday tool to save the preferences regarding plugin order or turning off certain modules.

BBWeather seems to have problems on my 7230. I have 4.0.185 loaded and the latest bbweather.

The weather shows up ok in BBToday most of the time, but sometimes displays 'Malformed ADDRESS - Returning NULL'. I DO have the APN loaded and working. It works fine for midpssh, browsing, etc using tcp, so it is not a internet connection error.

But when I try BBWeather directly, it comes back with the error, 'No service book entry for IPPP' and aborts. -edit- I went into bbweather prefs, turned off proxy, and it now works! Well, as good as weather in BBToday. About 4 out of 6 requests give the 'Malformed address', but if you try a second time, etc, it will eventually work!

Any ideas?

Everytime I load BBToday, thru my app loader. The BB will load up and then just pause at the "nextel" screen, which is the screen just before home.

Question Won't save - 06-24-2005, 12:31 PM

Yes - to the 3 or 4 other posters - I too have the problem where the thing won't save any of your settings. Not sure why - but its been the same on several models of Blackberry I've tried. It never saves. Bummer. Not sure what the deal is - I do use a BES, but not MDS and know about disabling the proxy - it just won't keep the disable setting - keeps resetting itself. Anyone have any ideas??

I hope this helps

If you need a location id for BBTODAY go here and type in your city

http://www.aspnetresources.com/tools/locid.aspx

it will give you your location ID

USE CAPS WHEN YOU PUT IT IN

I downloaded all the BB stuff and all work. However, the BB Today is just another application and not the "home page". How do I make this the "home page"? Also, once it is the home page, will it always take me back to BB Today once escaping out of an app like email or tools?

BB Today - I agree with sejinro - it would be great if BB Today could be set to be the standby screen.

Just wondering, have any non BES uk 7100V users been able to get the weather part of BBToday to work? I managed to get a similar app working on a 7290 by changing the apn from the wap.vodafone.co.uk to internet in the tcp section and turning off the firewall, however despite fiddling around with the settings (and amking sure I'm using the correct location ID) I still cant get it to work I get the could not open tunnel error, its strange as I have at times managed to get some apps working and some not!

Your zip code is the location code (for the US).

To get my BBWeather to work I had to disable the MDS Proxy. Just check that checkbox and save your settings, I have a 7520. It worked for me

Can someone take the source code from BBweather/BBToday and leverage the http://www.simprit.com/miniexcel/support_faq_bb.html link to make it possible for people to set thier apn settings in the BBweather setup? I have a 7290 and cingular and the only way to get an internet connection work is to use the following settings.
Cingular (USA)
GPRS APN: blackberry.net
WAP gateway IP: 66.209.11.61
WAP gateway port: 9203

Any program that will let me set these on the options page I can connect to the internet (wireless18 ). Any program that does not (BBWeather, BBToday, Verichat) I cannot connect to the internet.

Yes I have called Cingular to add WIX, yes I have tried every possible combination of TCP settings supplied by Rejhon on the other faq. Please do not waste your/my time posting those responses, only reply if you can help with changing and recompiling the source code. I'm going to give it a shot but I know I do not have a way to sign the code and I'd rather not have to pay the $100 to do so.

Default BB Light Query - 08-17-2005, 03:16 PM

We've adopted 7100T's for our sales team and they like them. They want to use the BB's in their cars and we are trying out different car kits but some of them complain that the screen goes off during a phone call. I have downloaded BB Light to try on a 7100 but the choices seem to be only to turn the light on for long periods (perhaps just for working hours) or turn it on only when the keys are pressed. Is there any way to force the light on when the phone is in use? Leaving it on permanently reduces the battery life to only a couple of hours.

Guy

Hi,

Trying to install the bb-today on a 7290 on v3.8.x OS. Install via desktop manager works, but when launching the app on the BB I get 'error, attempt to access secure API'.

Does anyone have suggestions please?

Thanks

Default Help - 08-19-2005, 04:36 AM

I have a 7510(Nextel/BES/4.0), and really loved the BBLight prgrm. I really didn't get a chance to check out the BBToday. I went with the OTA dwnload. The only problem was with installing the corrector, but wasn't real concerned because I really dont know what it was. Anyway, after pwring the handheld off for the night to allow my battery to charge, when I powered it back up all I got was "ERROR 365- RESET". Which has remained since. So now I'm S.O.L. because I cannot access my tech dispatch/scheduling system for work. Anyone had this problem? Or can anyone tell me if this is something I can resolve myself, and how? I've read mixed articles. Some saying they had to have the unit replaced, meanwhile others referring to it as a minor problem they resolved without Nextels assistance, but made no mention of the cause or cure. I would appreciate any help at all. If someone has resolved it themselves PLEASE email me direct ---> [email address] thanx

Go into the weather program press your trackwheel and choose Update Now, that should clear up the Bad DNS address question.
