Default Any Bluetooth "chat" software?

Please Login to Remove!

Is there any chat software that will let me send out/receive messages to other bluetooth users? I don't want AIM/MSN/Yahoo chat/IM, but ability to use bluetooth to IM.

If the chat client will AIM/MSN/Y!, great.

got a 7520 with BES server. NextHELL is my carrier. :(

I did some searching in this forum for bluetooth and in the bluetooth forum and didn't turn up a direct hit. None of the chat software indicates it will work with bluetooth.

thanks

Yep, I figure that the actual program CSI:Miami was showing for chatting is bogus.

But maybe there might be a bluetooth chat program out that they just "enhanced" for the show.

Default Mobiluck

Mobiluck, I used it when I had a symbian based phone, I am not sure at all though if they support BB. Although it did work when I had a Nokia 6620. It was a java midlet so the possibility stands.

Sigh. Currently, the Bluetooth on a BlackBerry only supports the audio/handfree profiles. No chatting over BT, no syncing over BT, no Bluesnarfing, no beaming, nothing but audio. Sorry.

Thanks, good info to know. That explains why I couldn't "tooth" over some info from my bb to dell axion (or whatever it is called) that had full bluetooth features.

Thanks RIM for the full featured bluetooth in the bb! :(

Unhappy Bluetooth Chat Application CSI Miami

I also saw the CSI Miami that showed Bluetooth chatting capabilities. They should really think about exploring this. Would be a great tool for Blackberry users.

As has been written many times before, RIMs major customers, including governments, the military and major corporations, are very security conscious. As is RIM. And Bluetooth is a security disaster. The Bluetooth implementation on the BlackBerry is audio only for security reasons. Data can not be compromised. Same logic as why there are no external memory slots (SD, MMC) or cameras. Limit the security breaches.

Further, I don't think Bluetooth chat is a necessary feature... Sure, it's kind of a cool gee-whiz feature, but considering the Blackberry is basically always connected to the 'net, there are numerous chat alternatives... Most people I know accomplish the same basic function with simple PIN messaging, but IM applications such as Verichat provide an even better real-time-chat experience.

Granted these options would consume data usage, but this shouldn't be a problem unless you're on a really restricted data plan.

Seems like it was if BB is not supporting bluetooth chat. Guess us BB users will just have to meet people for real.

It won't work if your BB OS is below 4.2.x version.
