Hello everyone.

I have been on the internet for 3 hours trying to figure this one thing out. I have read everything, and nothing is simple enough for me to understand it.

I bought my pearl this afternoon and took it out of the box.
From there, I was able to figure out everything. Set up pictures for caller ID, use the camera, access web pages and set up all my email addresses. Everything is working perfectly, as even my activation email from this forum was pushed directly to my Pearl.

I just can't get AIM to work. Like I said, I've read everything, but it seems that nothing starts at square one.

I go to the icon on the home screen for MEdia Net, and it says New! AIM. I click that and it loads and loads and then gives me an error, saying server may be busy.

I have read things about IM+, Ramble, GoogleTalk. Do I need to download one of these to be able to use AIM on my Pearl? Do I have to access AIM from a menu different from MEdia Net?

Like I said, I took the Pear out of the box and everything else came so easily. This AIM thing is giving me a headache.

I have Cingular, and I bought the unlimited package for 39.99/month. The saleswoman assured me that this included unlimited internet browsing as well as IM.

Can someone please tell me, as simply as possible, how to sign in to my AIM account and begin chatting on my new Pearl?

Thanks Chinox, but I'm still confused. Even if I emailed for this app, I have no idea how to make it work.

Why on earth is this menu option for AIM there if it doesn't work?

What I need is something that starts off with..."Take the pearl out of thebox and then...." because that's where I'm at. I just went through 7 pages of searches on this forum and nothing comes close to being a beginner version of how to even get AIM working on this phone. I've read every FAQ on here and every other forum.

Obviously everyone else has AIM working. Why won't anyone post how they did it in the very beginning?Over 20 views and nothing?

I didn't use the AIM app it came with. I went ahead and went straight to JiveTalk as mentioned in the earlier post. But I just tried getting AIM the same way you tried and the same thing happened to me.

People use other apps like JiveTalk because it uses data instead of messages. Meaning sending and receiving AIM messages through the AIM app count as text messages, which usually aren't included with a data plan.

I would say your best bet is to go with JiveTalk or some of the others you mentioned above.
