Default Oracle Calendar - 04-23-2005, 04:16 PM

I'm a brand new Blackberry user (3 days so far) with a 7100t. I'm coming from a clie with Palm OS. My university uses Oracle calendar and does not have the server set up for syncML. I've been trying to sync my calendar with the Outlook connector, but so far I'm having no luck. I have the Outlook Connector working great, but when I try to set up the Intellisync conduit, I get an error along the lines of "Cannot find file" and it won't let me browse for the file. I'm using the lastest version of the desktop software (4.0.3 if I remember right) and version 9.0.4 of Oracle Calendar.

Anyone else using this configuration gotten this to work?

I'm on XP SP2, so it's not an OS issue.

Really, I'd prefer to stay away from Outlook, but there doesn't seem to be a sync to Thunderbird (for contacts) and no direct synce to Oracle Calendar (which I used in Palm days).

Talking How to Sync the Blackberry 7100t with Oracle Connector for Outlook - 05-04-2005, 09:33 AM

You CAN sync the Blackberry 7100t with the Oracle Connector for Outlook. However, you MUST use the Blackberry Desktop software version 3.6 CD that shipped with the Blackberry 7230 device. You canNOT use the Blackberry Desktop CD that shipped with a 71xx or 77xx model Blackberry. The Oracle Connector only supports version 3.6 of the Blackberry Desktop software.

That makes no sense to me. Why would they lose that ability?

Reading the release notes for 4.0, I'm a little leery of downgrading because there were apparently issues with XP SP2:

Quote:
The following issue occurred only on Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional Service Pack 2, or other operating systems with the Windows Installer 3.0 package installed. The BlackBerry Desktop Software might have experienced problems communicating with your handheld if you had installed older versions of handheld software on your desktop. This problem might have appeared during key generation or data synchronization. ( SDR25098 )
Anyone have experience with this? How common is it?

I just thought that I'd give you all an update on the workaround I've developed. It's ugly, but it works.

I have 2 profiles set up in Outlook. Profile A is connected to the Oracle Calendar database, Profile B one is not.

Here's my procedure for transferring from Oracle to Blackberry:

1. Load Outlook with Profile A.
2. Export Calendar to a .pst file
3. Load Outlook with Profile B
4. Import .pst file from #2
5. Sync BB to Profile B

It's ugly, and it's only 1-way (Oracle Calendar to BB), but it gets done what I need to get done. Anyone have the skill with VB to automate this?

There are two options.
1. Use the desktop 3.6 and you can sync--not very reliable
2. Get Nexthaus syncml for Outlook--sync oracle to outlook and then use the bb--works fine.

I have the oracle outlook connector, however, when it syncs, its not the "1st" outlook cal... Desktop manager never sees it...

I have a BlackBerry Pearl being used in Australia (over Optus). I am running Microsoft Outlook 2003 and my company is using Oracle with Oracle Collaboration Suite... unfortunately, no BlackBerry server.

All I would like to do is Sync my calendar, emails and contacts

I have been able to sync my contracts, by creating a new contacts group and syncing that... but that requires me copying from Oracle each time

I have installed the patch (all it did was create a "MS Outlook Connector" folder in C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Connectors).

Was I meant to do something more?

Upon loading up BBDM it still can't find my oracle connector inbox/calendar (my work is running OCS ver R.10.1.3.0.5.90112).

Any other ideas? Would REALLY appreciate it...!

SyncJe for Blackberry is Oracle certified.

Nexthaus is also an Oracle Premium Partner, and the Oracle-certified SyncML profile is included in Oracle Calendar Server 10.1.2.3.3.

So yes, it does work with Oracle...
