I just got my pearl 8100 last week and am still spending a lot of time discovering many of the nuances of this thing. I use act2007 for my contact manager on my pc and one thing that I have noticed is that there is no easy way to link activities to the address book from the handheld. For example, I am out of the office and I make an appointment with one of my clients for next week. When I put that appointment in the handheld I would like that appointment and any notes I took to show up in the address book under that client once synchronizrd. Likewise if I send or reply to an e-mail I would like that e-mail to be available to be attached to the contact.

There is a lame way to do this thru the notes section but it seems terribly inefficient. I have done some searching but have not found an ap for this. It seems to me that this would be a high demand ap. Is it available?

I am an ACT user too and there is a big difference in ACT and the BB contact manager, you stated the major differences. There is a workaround though-it just costs money.

Companionlink allows you to do what you want in a very low budget junky way
Handheld Contact does what you want for 20-25 bucks a month.

I am already using companionlink. I did see the HHC ap as a link on ACT's site. Before your reply here I just thought the only difference between Companion Link and HHC was the real time aspect of it. I am reluctant to spend the extra $20 per month because, er ah well it is $20/month. I might have to check it though. Please report back your findings .

This whole thing is pretty much unimaginable to me. It just seems like such a logical and obvious flaw. I guess the way you explain it about Outlook it then makes a little more sense.

I did not understand Outlook until someone explained it to me. Being a long time ACT user I was never exposed to Outlook. I am self employed so I never had to use it like all of my friends in the "real" world. I was talking with them and asking them how to use Outlook and have activities linked to contacts. I was really surprised when they explained that it does not do that.

The easiest solution for you and I would be the "ACT for BB" application but it does not exist like it does for Palm.

HHC does what we want it to do and I am doing the trial now. I cannot see spending 20-25 a mth just to do that one function. I have no need to synch over the air. When I return to the office I just plug in the usb and I am done.

Maybe they can let us use the software and not the synching service, then we could synch when we are at the PC. There would be no need for their server or the costs associated with the wireless synch.

John, You and I are in the exact same situation.

Too bad this does not exist. It probably will one day. I need a soln now though, not some day.

This is how I feel too, although now that I know there is this extra functionality other than just the wireless update it does seem somewhat more worth while. I am still going to have a hard time justifying $20/mo.

I am going to call them an ask about this. I would be happy to pay $100 or more as a one time fee for this added functionality as long as I was not paying $20/mo.
