I have a BB7100g on Cingular. I have a hosted Exchange Server with Mailstreet and use their BES. I tried Verichat and it connects without any problem. But, I had been using Causerie on a Treo 650 (which I dumped in favor of the BB), and preferred it to Verichat. Now that Causerie is available for the BB, I would like to try it.
Unfortunately, Causerie will not connect. If I try the Direct Connect option, I get the following error: "Connection cannot be established with the server. ERROR: could not open tunnel - failed."
If I de-select the Direct Connect option, I get a different error: "you attempted to open a connection within and outside your company's firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy" and then a "Could not connect to server: permission denied" message.
Does anyone have any clue how to get this to work, or even where the problem lies. Since Verichat, Rambler, IM+, the Cingular and BB web browsers, and all other apps work and connect without a problem, I have to assume it is Causerie. On Direct Connect, Causerie uses port 17500 by default. I have tried port 80, and port 443 with the same results.
