Moved to the Aftermarket Software section and thread title edited.

Thus far it works on the 8100/8800 devices.

Like to took me forever to find this thread.

Oh, and the original thread title was much better. You could have just added: /8800.

No need to take liberties with thread titles that way.

Just thoughts as I'm in no way challenging moderator action.

Your loss

My most sincere and humble apologies for going off topic. Back on:

A few things I've found with this app that I either don't like or I am ignorant about the solution:

Cannot delete searches(either business or cities): some I just did for testing and don't need them in there.

Cannot store location. You either have to use the voice feature or the text feature to enter your location(city) every time you start the app.

The program has locked up on me once. Instead of clicking enter to make a call I clicked the green phone button. This caused me to have to do a battery pull.

Some text gets cut off: for example, searching for Eastern Pennsylvania Ear Nose and Throat, at the top where it shows what was searched(right next to the text TellMe) it reads: eastern pennsyl

Just pointing out some possible issues since this is a beta.

These are small gripes, to be sure.

I do like 411, but Tellme so far is really cool, the UI is so impressive and simple, i really am loving it. Now the next step will be the integrate web search in with it, for things like movie times, menus, etc. I see they have a txt and call in feature. Has anyone tried the call in feature?

I installed on my wife's 8100 last night and she loves it, she tried it with BT headset for voice recognition and it work well--not excellent, but well.

I too wish it stored a couple of default locations.

Ok... I have now tried out the maps, directions and share icons. This program is SUPER! Since it's Beta, some the annoyances mentioned by others will eventually be worked, I'm certain.

In the mean time, I'll just be recycling my phoebook and maps!!! LOL

When I use my Tzones browser I get to the page where it asks to enter the phone number, then agree to terms of service but then it takes me back to the phone number page again. I never get to a download page.

Default just an idea - 05-25-2007, 04:47 PM

Probably a stupid idea, but I've seen a few programs that require that you click on the terms of service link before you can download(in this case request a text message). I actually clicked on the link and skimmed through it, then hit the back button(if I remember correctly). Maybe it's worth a shot.

Also, I think I used my area code in the phone number. I assume you are too though, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

I keep getting "Connection not available" when i try this?

Any ideas? The APN (TCP) settings are correct and work for JiveTalk and other programs.

I have a Cingular 8800.

Thumbs up 05-28-2007, 12:11 AM

Ok I finally got it to work on my phone, Someone up ^ said to go to your regular internet browser and type: beta.tellme.com did that and then entered my phone number ,accept the terms clicked download and that was it.. The UI is def very nice, has some nice useful features, To me its def not a berry411 replacement, but another one to use in addition to.. Its def a nice app, but so far is hasnt been as fast as berry411 to me, well at least not yet, and some of you might have forgotten that with berry411 you have the ability to install plug-ins which makes it as close to a firefox browser as its going to get being able to go to numerous pages or locations instantly.
Back to the Tell me APP, i tried opening a basic map that took me from my hom in Tampa, FL only 2 miles down the street to a Walmart and the map said unavailable?!?...Also having to hit the green call button everytime you have to say something is not really saving much time. BUT>>>>> I really havent played with it much so let me try some more its def one of my favorite apps at the moment, and its great for when youre driving (wink wink) and dont have the time to type everything...BTW i have the BB 8100 on TMO, and it installed quickly with no problems. DEF thumbs UP

OK....This has been buggin' the heck out of me. I finally figured it out as well. I tried every configuration I could think of, wap browser, internet browser, etc., and even clearing the cache. It finally worked when I used the "Internet Browser," and changed the Emulation Mode to "Blackberry" under >Internet Browser >Options >Browser Configuration >Browser: Internet Browser >Emulation Mode: Blackberry. It had been set on Microsoft IE for use with other sites. Not sure why it took me so long to figure that out but hopefully it helps someone else.

Not a bad app. I was never a big user of berry411, though.

I tried to get my brother to post help here for us but, unfortunatly, he can't publicly comment on it in the forum but he was trying to get someone who could to post here for us.

Default Problem! - 05-29-2007, 03:22 AM

Hey all,

For those of you using tellme, I got a really annoying problem. After getting the info that I want, the call feature doesn't work! Everything else works like the map, directions, etc. When I attempt to use the call feature, it doesn't do anything. Instead, I have to remember the number and exit out and dial out the number (very inconvenient) Any of you having this same issue? Got a fix? I re installed the app too.. Didn't work, im using a tmo pearl btw

Hi All,
Thank you for the kind words about the application. I will pass along the feedback to the rest of the team. Keep the comments (good & bad) coming!

T-Mobile users: try downloading directly from http://m.tellme.com/dist/unsigned/Bl...etop-0.9.6.jad

Also, We found a bug where users with enterprise activated plans were not connecting to the service. A fixed version of the application will be deployed today/tomorrow. If you were getting “connection lost” error prompts, please delete and install the application again tomorrow.

Thanks
-Jesse (& the Tellme team)
