strangely I noticed the notorious "reply" issue just yesterday. I thought I had looked and it was replying correctly, guess not.

Is this one still out there on the to be fixed list?

Otherwise still a great app

Just a point which may be of some help. It turns out that what is happening to some of the images in my case is due to what is going on with our BES. It seems to be receiving emails from the Lotus Domino server with the images stripped out as a "security" precaution. It takes out certain types of graphics which are embedded in the email but not all. For example your test email came in with no problem but when I look at the same email on the Lotus desktop that I am having problems with on the BB it has only image placeholders as well. I was not aware of that because I use Outlook to view my Lotus Notes email and it allows the images to pass. Very strange and just an example of the complex world out here.

Hi carsmovies,

It's fully possible this email didn't make it to us. Generally we've been replying almost immediately when we receive them.

Which settings are you looking for help with? APN settings for your phone, or something in the program?

A couple of details, and I'm sure a friendly user on these boards would be happy to help!

The program is working except for viewing images. I've tried tcp and wap settings in the program and it won't work.

We have a record of receiving an email on the 20th with a subject line "Connection" from somebody on Rogers BIS at 11:22am (Aus time) and we replied 30minutes later. Was this you?

That's the only email I can find in our database from somebody reporting using Rogers.

Great thanks, that connection worked. It was able to download and display small images from a Ebay email I got but I emailed myself a pic I took with my curve but the program didn't display the pic and there's no option to download attachments like there is with the bb default email.

does this mean if you receive an email w. an attachment and you view it with SmartView you wont see that there si an attachment? (doesnt display pic and no option do dl attachment like with the default viewer)

edit-just read the FAQ on the SmartView website. I know you cant view attachments from SV but will you see/be alerted that there is an attachment so you can switch to the regular mode and view it from there?

This may be a stupid question but since this program allows you to load emails w. full HTML would they use more data? would the difference be significant if not on an unlimited plan?

You are not viewing full HTML. SmartView does it's best to pretty up the HTML (and plain text) that makes it from RIM's servers to your BB. You will only use more data if you have it set to display images.

someone needs to go through these posts and in thread/faq summerize a lot of the things in this thread. It seems like things are getting repeated over and over about HTML / options / setup.

Will another stab at the "reply" issue be included? or is that pretty much that, on the topic?

Mine still replies from the default address.

Default Images - 06-21-2007, 11:25 AM

Many of the images in the emails I receive do not show up as images in BBSmartView but rather links. If I click on the links, it opens the browser and I do get the image. A small portion of the iamges show up in the emails. The images all show up on my outlook desktop. I do have the show images option selected. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

@eZainny

One suggestion if possible. I would love to see the header have a color and the email body be white or maybe have another color for that matter. That's all. Just wondering if that could ever be done. Thanks!

I PMed you the same thing btw... just though others may want to see on here too.

Default Message filing - 06-21-2007, 03:31 PM

eZainny

One of the other things that this needs is the ability to file the email without having to go back to the builtin Mail client. I do most of my email filing on my blackberry and it would be a GREAT help to be able to do it from your app.

Default No way to reply to emails. - 06-21-2007, 10:09 PM

I am using BlackBerrySmart Email Viewer . When I try to reply to an email message I get an error message that this is not a feature supported under BB version 4.1. That make no sense. Responding to emails is such a basic function.

^ RIM's OS 4.1 is very limiting to the replying / forwarding emails for developers and their 3rd party applications. its not SV's fault its the OS's fault.

Is anyone having issues with the contents of the email when they reply?

Let me explain:

I can reply with ease now.. the only thing, is (even when I reply w/o using SV to view the email) there is a bunch of HTML code in my email. When I reply, the stuff I write comes out fine.. but the stuff that I "quoted" per se has a bunch of HTML code.. not sure if I can even post an example but let me try:

This is what the 'Original' email turned to in my reply:
-=-=-=-=
&nbsp;T<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp; <BR>&nbsp; Pat and I are closing on a house in <SPAN id=lw_1182476011_6 style="BACKGROUND: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; CURSOR: hand; BORDER-BOTTOM: #0066cc 1px dashed; HEIGHT: 1em">NC</SPAN> on the 30th of July, which is <BR>also the first day of
-=-=-=--=-
This is how it should have looked:
-=-=-=-==-
T

Pat and I are closing on a house in NC on the 30th of July, which is
also the first day of
=-=-=-=-=

See the huge difference?

I am part of a lot of discussion emails with lots of people CC'd, when my email does that.. it makes the email like 20x larger than it should be along with very confusing and cluttered. I almost have to use "Delete original text".. but then people are not sure what I am replying to.

Anyone else? I may try uninstalling SV just to see if it has anything to do with it, hopefully not. I have not emailed SV support yet because I want to be sure it's not my BB or RIM's issue. I'd rather figure it out or get feedback from the masses before bothering eZainny . Still love the program!!

I noticed it too. When someone sends me a offline chat from Gtalk, it actually sends me a email. When I look at my reply to that offline chat via email from my BB, i see lot of weird HTML codes. I did not know what went wrong and no one has complained to me about this yet.

If it is the SV issue, i hope they would fix it ASAP.

Hi RadioDude,

On the site where you purchased, there would have been an option to tick "notify when new updates become available". If you ticked this, when the next update comes out an email will be sent to you.

I'll also be coming on here to notify all.

Thanks for buying our software! This next release has so many cool new features...

Cheers,
eZainny.

Hi someonexh,

At what time did this problem start occurring?

I don't want to go passing the buck here (because it still could be a problem with SV) but I know of only one other application that modifies your reply emails...For those of you who had this problem, did you install empower at any time on your device?

I'm just trying to debug the problem here so I hope nobody takes offense at the suggestion it might be empower. I'll readily admit it could be SV too - but I'm looking at my code now and we don't even kick in if you are performing a reply...

-=-=-=-==-
