I'm just trying to debug the problem here so I hope nobody takes offense at the suggestion it might be empower. I'll readily admit it could be SV too - but I'm looking at my code now and we don't even kick in if you are performing a reply...

Let me explain:
I can reply with ease now.. the only thing, is (even when I reply w/o using SV to view the email) there is a bunch of HTML code in my email. When I reply, the stuff I write comes out fine.. but the stuff that I "quoted" per se has a bunch of HTML code.. not sure if I can even post an example but let me try:
This is what the 'Original' email turned to in my reply:
-=-=-=-=
T<BR> <BR> Pat and I are closing on a house in <SPAN id=lw_1182476011_6 style="BACKGROUND: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; CURSOR: hand; BORDER-BOTTOM: #0066cc 1px dashed; HEIGHT: 1em">NC</SPAN> on the 30th of July, which is <BR>also the first day of
-=-=-=--=-
This is how it should have looked:
-=-=-=-==-
T
Pat and I are closing on a house in NC on the 30th of July, which is
also the first day of
=-=-=-=-=
See the huge difference?
I am part of a lot of discussion emails with lots of people CC'd, when my email does that.. it makes the email like 20x larger than it should be along with very confusing and cluttered. I almost have to use "Delete original text".. but then people are not sure what I am replying to.
Anyone else? I may try uninstalling SV just to see if it has anything to do with it, hopefully not. I have not emailed SV support yet because I want to be sure it's not my BB or RIM's issue. I'd rather figure it out or get feedback from the masses before bothering eZainny . Still love the program!!
|
|
Honestly I am not sure. I never did install empower so unfortunately its not that, this morning I will try uninstalling sv and see if it does it still.

I've never installed empower either. I get the same thing. The body of the email I'm replying to is all gobbledy-gooked with code.

Hi Guys,
Sorry I couldn't reply earlier - looks like blackberryforums.com crashed for a while there. Those codes you are seeing in your reply are strange because I never insert anything at all like that in an email - for example the <span> html tag that is quoted - I never *ever* put those in, not under any circumstances. I don't think my app is the source of these problems though I'd have a hard time saying what is.
I guess uninstall SV and see if the problem goes away is a good place to start.
Cheers,
eZainny.

Absolutely Every upgrade we do will be free forever. We have a list a mile long of very cool things to put in this application to turn it the complete email package for the BlackBerry - expect to see frequent releases from us here.
Plus, a couple of other applications we've been working on are nearing release too - you'll be hearing about them soon

While I'm not having that particular problem, I am having a seemingly related one. Namely, when I respond to an email that's been bounced around a couple of times (i.e. re/fw/re, etc.) my BB signature appears at the very bottom of the message (below all of the re/fw/re's) rather than at the bottom of my response...

I uninstalled SV and could not replicate the problem I had, I unfortunately couldnt get a mass amount of email this morning but I tested it with about 4 or 5 different styles/fonts/links/html code and all. I have since reinstalled SV.

Why PIN on purchase? -
06-25-2007, 12:02 PM
I was about to complete my purchase of SV, which really is impressive, but at the end of the checkout procedure my PIN was requested in a mandatory field. Why?
I really do not feel a retailer needs my PIN, particularly after getting all of my contact and credit card information.
Any explanation would be appreciated.
Thanks

Yes, it is my Blackberry PIN, not credit card. I just don't understand why a retailer needs it, and I don't feel like giving it out for no reason. The trial version did not require a PIN.

.. the PIN is normally tied to the registration code. All programs that I have registered or needed an activation code require your PIN. It's to keep you from getting the program and giving it out to your friends
/edit..
yes the PIN is your DEVICE PIN.. not your bank or card pin Just look under options -> status

They use the PIN to generate a serial number specific to the device. Personally I frown on this practice but it seems like the industry standard. I know magmic, idokorro, and pocketday also require your pin. Maybe you can contact the developer for an exception. I know that newsclip used to tie your registration to your email address on the blackberry BIS or BES

Entropy and someonexh,
Thanks for the explanation. It does make sense in an odd way, but it also is uncomfortable to do. I will go ahead with the purchase, but grudgingly so.

Why is this uncomfortable? I'm really asking, because I have no idea. To me, and I may be completley missing something, it seems like I'd be more concerned about the credit card and email than my PIN.
You're not the first person I've heard mention wanted to "guard" their PIN, so I'm guessing that there's something more to it than I know. I've given out my PIN....should I not have?

I won't say that you shouldn't have, as there is even a section on BBForums for PIN buddies. I happen to be a privacy nut, and I am just uncomfortable with a retailer now being able to tie my credit card, home phone with PIN. Chalk it up to my paranoia.

The only real danger is perhaps spam or such. And the spam would have to come from another BB anyway.
You can't learn too much about a person (i.e., identity theft-wise) from a PIN. I understand preferring not to give it out, but in purchasing applications for a BB, the PIN is tied to the registration, as noted above, and is a security for the developer against the registration key code being given out for multiple use all over the net.

I would worry more about giving an email address out than my PIN I have had a BB for 5 years now and I have only had one person that wouldnt leave me alone on the pin.
I post mine up never thought anything about it.

Hi,
It seems there is a bit of discussion going about the privacy let us explain ourselves:
1) Yes, we need your PIN to generate the activation code. As some of you already mentioned, this is the way to protect ourselves from users sharing the software. It is an industry standard.
2) We will NEVER disclose your PIN or any other information to anyone!
(we never even look at this data unless there is a query from the buyer relating to this, for example, we had queries we the activation codes did not work. We look the customer up and we can see if the PIN entered looks like a PIN and then go from there).
3) We do NOT have access to your credit card details. This is handled by MobiHand, not us.
Hope this clarifies a couple of issues.
Cheers,
eZainny

Hey there. Let me just say so far I love your program (just purchased it today after my trial). Can't wait to see the new features with the new version.
I was wondering. - - I love how you have the text translated into emoticons. Is it possible to expand them to also translate (without the spaces of course) : - ) ; - ) :-* :*
And another cool app idea for you: BlackBerrySmart SMS Viewer!!!!
So people could have the ability to customize how SMS looks just like your email viewer. With translated emoticons. Maybe the ability to input/view emotions... almost like berricons, but better. Change background color/text. Maybe alternating so SMS I send look one way and the ones I receive look another. - - Just an idea. I would glady pay for something like that, if it's anything like your email viewer it would be awesome. Thanks.
