I downloaded the trial version but I'm having a problem installing it. In the Application Loader when I try to add the ALX file I get a message saying "No additional applications designed for your device were found" Any ideas?

ok just downloaded the Trial, ran Desktop manager and installed without a problem... but when the Curve rebooted there is no icon for the program (yet it shows up in Options / Adv. Options / Applications)
never mind, it merges right into Messages...

OK, just to be sure - there are two settings under the options menu that I see.

First is message services. Mine is set to my BES email but I can switch to any of the accounts I have enabled on my BB. What is your set to?

Second - under the service book item I have a service book for each email account active. Are yours complete?

How come this is crashing my computer? On a Vista Business machine, I downloaded the file, extracted with winzip, and then tried loading it on my 8703e. Halfway through the load a dialog box pops up saying something about a fatal error and then my computer goes the blue screen of death and then restarts. I haven't had this many problems since win98!

Hi bubbaman,

That sounds like a problem with your Desktop Manager - perhaps it is not compatible with Vista.

Tomorrow I'll be making available an OTA installation package which will allow you to bypass your Desktop Manager and install straight to your BlackBerry.

I'll post in here when it is up.

Regards,
eZainny.

Thanks again,

downloaded - thought i would love this but now it shows the weakness/slowness of EDGE. i'm sure this would be great on a 3G bb but not sure i could use this on a daily basis. need to give it more time. love the way email looks!

There is an issue with the replies. At least for me, no matter what email system the mail was received on, when you reply it replies using the "default" message system as setup in Options >Advanced Options >Message Services. If I set my default up to be Desktop (BES) then it always replies using Desktop. If I change it to my Gmail then it always replies using GMail. It does this even if replying to a PIN message. If I try and send I usually get a red X because the reply can't find an original message (unless the message was received from my default message account.) Hope that makes sense.

downloaded and tried.

I tried open and read one of my old emails. When I return to the main email screen. There is a big red X next to that particular email that i have read. it replaced the "envelop" icon. I couldnt get rid of it.

Anyone know what does the X means?

Edit: I got an error message "sorry, more could not be retrieved. Please check your connection status and try again later" before I got the Big Red X next to my email.

So no fix yet for the "reply" issue?

May have needed just a hair more testing. Was the reply issue present during the beta for those of you that tested?

I don't use BES, all I have is a gmail account. Under my Options>Advanced Options> I have "Default Services" which lists my gmail account.

I don't have the newly released version, I am still running the latest beta. I just replied to several messages to test replies, and everything seems to work perfectly.

I can't try the release version till I get home tonight, as I don't have DM at work and the OTA option isn't available till tomorrow.

Just to clarify, when you are viewing the SmartView email you press "R" or "L" for reply or reply to all and you can actually send a message?

I have no problem reply and send email as well.

I am on BIS, 8100.

I hit all these 3 shortcut and i am able to get to reply my email: Q, A, L, O.
Or using the trackball to bring up the menu screen.

ok. glad it's working for others. I have tried many different things to fix it on mine but was sure that it was only my BB. I wiped the device this morning. I was ready to take it back to verizon to see if I could get another one :/

Oh wait, I speak too fast. Although I am able to have all these option to compose email.

BUT:

After I hit send, the recipient would never receive the reply emails.
Also, everytime I send an email, I had an "new mail" icon on my home screen which I DONT have any email, I have to keep pulling my battery to get rid of the new mail icon.

Did you Download the proper version for your OS? There are 2 versions, one for OS 4.2 and one for prior OS.

No offense, but $24.99 is more than reasonable, I was thinking he would charge much more with the feedback he has received along with how many people were dying to get their hands on this program.

true but high prices make it more prone to people bootlegging. cheaper prices people really dont care. but more expensive it is, then better chance of it.

not to mention, ok its worth the trial. but im not going to pay $25 for a program that just makes my email look better. it works fine how it is. $25 for an non-needed program is stupid on my part.

I only used "R" to reply. I first sent myself an email from another account, then replied to it from within the SmartView screen by pressing "R". Then I checked the other email account, and it came through fine along with the original message at the bottom. The only possible anomaly I noticed just now is that my copy (on the BB) doesn't show the message I'm replying to at the bottom, but it is there (as confirmed when I recieved it on the other end).

Again, I am only trying this using the latest beta, I will test the release version tonight ASAP.

First let me congratulate eZainny... Very nice interface. I've downloaded the software and been using it all day!! Love it...

My little problem is with the following... I can use the Smartview to read a PIN message but when I reply to it with R, instead of using the Peer to Peer transport, the Blackberry attempts to use my default message service... In my case on a BES it is the "desktop" obviously that doesn't work...

Not a show stopper for me... But something for you to consider when looking at bug fixes or improvements...

Great work!

Same issue here with the replies. I am using a 7100i with 4.1 software. Smartview tells me I must have 4.2 in order for it to work. I have to back out of smartview to reply. I kinda wish they would just disable the option in the 4.1 version.

OTHERWISE.......This software is awsome!!!!!!!!!!

I am waiting for the OTA download. If this program does what it says it does effectively, you have single handedly made the Blackberry the best Smartphone out there. I was seriously thinking about putting up a bounty for the person who can make an integrated program to read html emails effectively. I am a graphic designer and alot of other designers I receive emails from use html emails and i just read right over them because all i see is links. So I hope this works so I can quit looking at the Treo 755p.
