Default Announce the Release of JiveTalk for BlackBerry 1.0 - 05-28-2007, 02:27 PM

We are happy to announce the 1.0 release of JiveTalk (see release notes). This marks the end of our beta period for JiveTalk for BlackBerry.

We want to thank all of you who have helped us along the way. Your feedback and suggestions have been extremely valuable in making JiveTalk a better product.

Now some logistical details on the 1.0 release and our pricing structure going forward:

As an introductory offer, we're making JiveTalk available for $19.95 for a device license, and $29.95 for a full user license. In summary, a device license is a perpetual license tied to a single device, non-transferable, whereas a full user license is a perpetual license tied to the user and full transferable across devices. Both licenses only require a one-time fee (no subscription) and include free software upgrades (following the same update process used during in the beta period). See our website for more details.

We will also offer a free 30-day trial for JiveTalk. This is a no-obligation trial of fully functionaly software; the trial period starts later this week, at which point your beta license will automatically revert to a 30-day trial license.

This has been a very enjoyable beta process for our team at BeeJive. While somewhat sad to see the beta end, over the coming weeks and months, we will continue to enhance JiveTalk to make it even better. You will see some of the following in future releases:

- File transfers, buddy icons/profiles, better chat logging
- Additional IM services, such as Skype chat and MySpace IM
- Group chat and chat rooms

As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions.

Thanks again,

Kai

BeeJive, Inc.

p.s. Sorry for the double posting, but want to make sure we don't lose this in the more than 1000 entry beta thread.

Fantastic! I just purchased my user license. Great job on this application. I just wish you guys had been along a bit sooner so I wouldn't have purchased some of the other IM apps that I have and no longer use now. Ce'st la vie. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the new features you guys are adding. Your support through the beta and getting the features that we all wanted added to JiveTalk is outstanding. In my humble opinion, you guys have managed to get your app loaded with more features that people want than the other guys have in theirs and with a much shorter development period. They definitely have competition on their hands.

I think the BeeJive team should be commended for one of the best beta test -> final release cycles I've ever seen from a commercial company. Other up-and-coming teams could look to you guys as an example on the 'right' way to do things, how to embrace your userbase, listen to their feedback, then make it all come together in the code in ways which everyone likes culminating in a fantastic 1.0.0 release.

Just to make sure I understand right... The Full User license will allow me to have the application on multiple devices where I could use different messenger accounts on each as long as I am not using Jivetalk on both devices concurrently?

technically, yes. though the process currently requires a few steps. it's really designed so that you can transfer devices.

to do what you propose, you need to:

1. log out of device A (currently registered)
2. unregister device A
3. register device B
4. log in to device B

this requires you to have both phones handy, but as long as you do, it's not too bad. we don't have a way for you to register device B and have our system automatically unregister device A (doing so would require some sort of additional security measure, in case you lose your license key).

True to my word, I just happily dropped $29.95 on a registration.

I agree with the above post. This was a shining example of software development, from beta to release.

This is one of the best BB programs to come around. I'm glad I got a chance to participate from the early days.

Congratulations on your release, and on a job well done!

Kudos to the BeeJive team. Echo what others have said here. Even the original companies could take notes from your development/beta process on this one (AIM/GoogleTalk/MSN/Yahoo/etc.).

I look forward to using my full liscense on my Blackberry for many years to come.

Congrats on the release. The price you have set for the introduction is well worth the cost. Great program, great price, great support, great value!

Looking forward for the months to come as I keep enjoying my jivetalk.

Would we be able to upgrade the single device license and upgrade it to a permanent license? I assume not?

Will Jivetalk ever get sound/vibration features added? Basically alerts so we know when a message comes in while in the holster etc.

Or have I simply been missing some option somewhere...

Thanks

EDIT: Good god... should have known, it integrated completely with the profiles... DOH. Found the alert options... ignore me Cash is on the way!

You're "simply missing some option somewhere."

Go into profiles and edit your active profile.

You'll seen the option to set alerts for JT messaging alerts just like all other alerts.

Blast you BeeJive guys! I've purchased a competitor's product a few months back, at $50.00. Trialed your package this weekend just for giggles, and now I have to buy yours. It's far and beyond superior to what I'm running. IM Contact Management, better UI, account management, etc.

You don't happen to offer competitive upgrades, do you?

Again, I want to congrat on the new release. I am very happy with the product and the price is right!

I looked into some other products and they would cost either subscription base or an one-time charge but it costs a lot.

I love the product and I can't wait to see the Skype Chat in the nearly feature.

Lets go another day in as I just got a message saying that I was logged in at another location. So I've changed my user password to see if someone was being a pain. Else, I might suspect reconnects being a problem. Will continue with Email if problem continues.

Dude, if you're getting 10 hours battery life to 55%, that is insanely good. Unless of course you do not use your BB much.

I agree! If I leave my JT on all day, I will probably get anywhere from 11 to 13 hours until my battery is completely drained depending on usage of my BB throughout the day...

Well for the price of 30 bucks per key i've decided its well worth the money to buy 2 licenses! Just finished placing the order.

Anyway there can be an option to change what is displayed in your profile?

I would rather it to say via JiveTalk on my Blackberry Wireless Handheld or something....

From the top of the screen, click to get a drop-down menu, choose Set-Status, and you can customize multiple status states.
