Default Looking for "profile switching" software - 06-05-2007, 11:07 AM

I've recently moved from a PPC to a BB. I've been able to find replacement software for everything on the PPC but one thing. This software would let the device "automagically" switch profiles based on time. So, for example I could have one profile active from 07:00 until 22:00 and then switch to a quiet profile from 22:01 until 06:59. Is there anything like this for the BB (8830 in particular)?

TIA,

Frank

I don't know of one, if you discover one, please post it on here.

You can use the AUTO ON/OFF feature (turns off and on as pre-programmed), which awakens the BB at a certain time, although Alarms, Tasks and Calendar entries will awaken it as well if they fall within the sleep period.

The on/off feature is not what I need.

I basically use the (old PPC) and BB for server monitoring. When something goes "bump" I get a message. I have a custom profile set for "daytime" with pretty loud tones/notices so I always hear it. At night, however, the BB is sitting pretty close to the bed, so I'd like a lot quieter profile (no need to wake everyone up).

I'll continue to dig.

ah, explaining your need helps...
BBAlerts is what you need. You can program the alerts for different times of day.

Handango sells it. Some info here on this forum.

Just to confirm, BBAlert is this program: BlackBerry Alerts by BByMel - Handango BlackBerry 8800 Software ?

Thanks,

Yup, that is it. You can set under BBAlerts > Options > Alerts Schedule.
Weekday and Weekend, and start and end times.

Likewise, try it out first before purchase to make sure it satisfies your needs.

BBAlerts did not seem to have quite what I need (and it actually locked up my device). I'm going to give Message Alerts from WebMessanger a try. I can't find much feedback on it however.
