Then for those of us who suffered through the last thread's endless back-and-forth, the point of this new thread is what exactly?

I got this working on my wife's nextel 7520. I have a 7100i and we needed something like this badly as I didn't want to pay for hosted BES and we didn't want to wait until the 88xx came to sprint so that I could give her my 7100i when I buy the newer BB.

We haven't purchased it yet because I want to make sure it works consistently on her device first. When I first set it up on her device and after you set all the parameters it gives the message that it will do a sync in a minute it wasn't syncing. Then a few hours later (i had it set to synce hourly on her device) I noticed my blackberry's calendar had a ton of entries and I knew it worked. Only problem is that so far I can only get it to sync about 14 days out. I'd like to get it to do a month but so far have been unable. Overall, great product for me.

Thanks! When I get home tonight I will note the stats in her Blackberry and write up the parameters I have set in her settings page that finally worked. I will email your support addy and edit this post for the benefit of those also using a 7520.

Ok, here's what I did.
Nextel 7520 w/TCP connection to internet (direct connection)
1. Downloaded and ran the ************* test application. It ran successfully.
2. Downloaded the ************* app. Before running it, I went into the options on the BB and set all the app's permissions to "Allow."
3. Ran the app and it wouldn't sync after setting parameters on the settings page and saving/closing and getting the "will sync within one minute" message.
4. Pulled the battery. This works with the Opera browser when it decides it doesn't want to connect. Pull the battery, then it just works.
4. Played with the "Days" and "Hours" settings. I had it first set to sync 30 days of info every eight hours. Second I tried one day and one hour. Still didn't work upon saving/closing within the allotted minute. Changed the setting to ten days every four hours thinking it wouldn't work and voila, four hours later I had my wife's calendar data in my 7100i. Since I knew that worked, I went about playing with the settings once again so that she could exchange more info. It is currently working, configured to exchange 20 days worth of data every four hours.

For *******:
When it wasn't working at first, there were no error messages. It was like it just wasn't initiating the sync at all. Once the syncing DID occur it worked like a charm. I think that too many open data connections freaks out some programs sometimes, so pulling he battery must allow the competing program to open a connection in such a way that it isn't competing or it could just be a memory issue since her BB is older and pulling the battery purges it and makes space. With that said, there are no error messages to report to your support department.

Does anyone have this working on a BB 8830 Verizon? I have tried to get this to work without success and if anyone has been able to get it to work can you please let me know what steps it takes. I have used gcalsync a free program but the timestamps get mixed around which kind of makes it useless. Also, I have had it installed now on my phone for over a 7 day period, the only information I can really provide is that it seems to try to sync but will just get errors. If you know of any other info that I can provide please let me know.

Thanks.

Also another question,

If my problems are because of the 7 day trial ending, if I were to purchase this program (in case there is no way around the 7 day trial) and not able to get it to work properly would you offer a refund? If so, I will purchase it.

Thanks.

Do you know if you have your APN settings properly configured? Did you read ALL the help files on their website?

How far out did you have it syncing calendar info? 5 days, 30 days? If it wasn't working, first thing I would try would be rolling back the number of days sync'd until I get a successful sync.

Cool. Always have to start with the basics first. Have you emailed their support team with your error code yet? I just did this morning and I haven't heard back yet, but it is early and who knows which country they're in.

NP I appreciate your attempt to help. I have emailed them in the past but I kind of pissed him off in the other thread and would rather it not repeat again to annoy others. Hopefully other people have had these issues and were able to resolve them

Well, I'll be getting my 8830 in July as soon as Sprint releases them, so if you still don't have it resolved (lol, if you still care at that point) i'll be more than happy to post up if I run into the same issue and find a solution. Good luck and please post up if you fix it since I'll be getting mine and could run into the same issue.

I realize I may be getting myself into some trouble here. So be it. But, *******, I can't really believe you insist on responding in such a manner. Firstly, someonexh's first post in this thread was directed to other users of the software, not to you. That is a perfectly legitimate use of these forums. Secondly, these are not your official support forums. Only the mods have the right to ask someone not to post, and they usually do so only in the case of egregious violations of propriety. Someonexh has not violated anything as far as I can tell. You have no hint of a right to ask him not to post. Ignore him if you will, but don't ask him not to post because another user may very well have an answer for his issues. An answer you're apparently not willing to give.

We no longer support this thread. Maybe it will actually become what the first thread was -- users talking to other users in a reasonable way -- until someoneexh hijacked it. That would be good. However, we doubt the value of such a thread to anyone because of the sheer noise that people like someoneexh pours into it.

And if it matters, we strongly disagree with you. It is because we take the trouble to address our users' concerns in a central place that a thread such as this takes on its additional dimensions. No, it is not a "support thread"; however, how many companies do you know who bother to do this apart from directing people to their own support site?

So be it. Read the help file, Using *************
and email support. We're done with this particular effort.

You have been a person of your word toward me and dealt with my use of your product above my expectations. To answer your question, I believe that both are equally important......persons who disrupt/destroy threads just make themselves look bad and warrant the ire of the moderators (I moderate a forum with a few thousand members). On the other hand, if people reading a thread PERCEIVE your reactions/actions to be unprofessional it could turn them off from your product...which would be a shame because it has solved an increasingly important issue in my household. Notice, I bolded "perceive" because perception is every bit as important in many cases as truth.

It has been written in a proverb that one should "abstain from the very appearance of evil." I can tell you from personal experience that when people have attempted to do me wrong and I have returned their ill will with level headedness, class and unwarranted respect...the situation 9 times out of ten works out in a positive manner and if the person in question continues on it just makes them look worse and eventually the situation takes care of itself in that way. Just my .02

I hope you continue to support these threads and continue to develop and evolve an already awesome product!

None taken. I think that substance is just as important as manner.....manner is the end result of substance. To put it another way, bad situations don't bring out the worst in people....they bring out what's REALLY in them. This is a case of the manner in which they react to a bad situation exposing what is really in their character/heart.

There is another proverb which states that "God looks on the inside, man looks at the outside." No man can know another's motives/heart, but we will judge another by his/her actions or the manner in which he/she lives or responds to life.

I was also typing this up while you responded......great response! Life is also about balance and as long as we have to deal with other human beings we must balance perception and truth, with truth being the overwhelming priority while perception cannot be ignored. (I love these kind of discussions..hehe)

I'll say this, since you asked twice, and then I'll shut up: had your initial response not been rude, the thread would not have been destroyed. Had you handled the initial post in a very different way, you--and you alone--could have avoided every bit of this.

A real life example. In sports, when two players are going at it, it is almost always the one who retaliates that gets called for the infraction. You retaliated; you get the flag.

I'd have to say that's an unfair assessment. Both parties are wrong if they acted wrongly. This is an example of the cliq mentality...it's almost like, ******* came into the community from the outside and you don't hold a "community" member as responsible. Wrong is wrong...no matter if it's an outsider or family.

Yes you made that quite apparent thank you. If you will not support me then I obviously will not purchase the product as I have not been able to get it to work. I will purchase it if I can get it working as it seems to be something that would be a perfect app to go with the BB and my use. I will keep posting here unless the majority of the users ask me not to, which I will completely understand.

To the other users, once again I am sorry for the last thread, that definitely was not my intention as I have been nothing but helpful on this forum and will try to continue to be. I have even called people just to help them out and get something working. I will not be accused of being a spy and other false things without a response to my defense. If that is an incorrect way of handling it I apologize. I appreciate those who have posted up about how they felt as I think I was as curious as ******* to see how everyone actually felt about the last thread.

gdpmumin: Thanks, I appreciate hearing your opinion.

eZainny: Thank you as well, now get your program released so I can buy it already... I can't wait

harryzuluberries: with your responses I have quite a bit of respect for your opinion as you seem to have a very level headed way of thinking. I loved reading your responses with the proverbs (as I am a Christian myself) and it definitely made me realize a few things about how things should have been handled.

**If you feel I should not post here you may PM me and ask me not to post so it doesn’t clutter up the thread. Thanks again.

(p.s. I tried to read this thread on my 8830, after about 5 pages of posts on the 8830 boy was it hard to keep up with the long responses and the quoting of the long responses I had to wait to jump on my laptop hehe )

A real life example. In sports, when two players are going at it, it is almost always the one who retaliates that gets called for the infraction. You retaliated; you get the flag.
You've clearly never had to deal with reality before. There are so many examples in history of great damage been done because of your kind of attitude. Someone comes at you; you defend yourself; you get in trouble. It is always OK to accuse, but never to defend. It is because of your mentality that we are now going to stay away from public forums. As usual, the vocal minority rules the good majority. You should see the kind of email we get on our support email address. Or maybe not. You will find something bad in that as well.

Peace out,

I say again: if you can build a better application, do so.

Also: every successful company knows that there are customers who are not worth helping. This is one of them. We go overboard for our customers. This one is just the worst we have ever seen.

I could actually point you to a couple other forums i read where small business owners have provided assistance on a public forum and had to deal with naysayers or problematic persons, but they clarified and defended their position and then continued to do what they do. I fully support your defending your product and completely disagree with what the gentleman who made the post you are responding to said. I teach my children that at school if someone throws a punch at you, you defend yourself and I will always back you as long as you didn't start the mess or provoke it. The right to defense is part of what this country was founded on.

I'm disheartened that you've deleted all your posts and will no longer provide support on the forums as I think that is what sets small business apart from large corporations....the personal interactions both good and not so good. Godspeed to you.
