I am sooooo ready to put a Bluetooth GPS in the car I can use with the BB. Of course, it can't talk, so no turn by turn directions. Thoughts?

Smile Sat Nav on Blackberry - 08-31-2006, 09:01 AM

On a Blackberry 8700 you can use a program from the website below - it igves full spoken instructions on directions

navig8uk.wisepilot.com

used with a Bluetooth GPS unit it is a true Sat Nav system.

I currently use this for the UK and Europe, have used it for about 4 months without a problem.

Also warns of Speed cameras when you are approaching them

I think it only works for Western Europe at present.

Try emailing them to see if they plan a North American version

I'm using telenav with my 8700 and a bluetooth gps unit. I also tried wayfinder. Wayfinder was nice, but the points of interest database was weak for the US. The navigation was good. I went with Telenav because I like being able to find places to eat, shop, etc when I'm on the road. I didn't use wayfinder enough to be able to offer an opinion about the navigation vs. telenav, but it seemed to be just as good.

Oh - and yes, telenav and wayfinder BOTH have voice turn by turn prompts.
