Unhappy Scroll wheel/space bar issue - 06-25-2007, 06:57 PM

I have version 35 and have the same issue with the program first showing me HTML and then switching back to text when I use my scroll wheel or space bar to move down through my email. It is really infuriating to "almost" have the view that I want. When it works, (short emails that don't require the scroll) it is great.

pnp, law - yep, both these are outstanding issues in v0.35. Especially, the view falling back to text on large emails with auto-more.

We had them on priority, and the good thing is that we are almost done with them. Expect something better in a short time from now..

Cheers!
Ani.

.66 has not gone public yet, Ani wanted to have some people try it out before releasing it to everyone. Looks great to me.

I still don't get pictures in my emails, but that is something they are working on for the next release.

is the image issue specific to carrier / network ? I get images most of the time except in some emails. Hope the next version fixes that too.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8100/4.2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Based on the emails I have gotten from Ani I think the picture issue is a carrier dependent one. I am on t-mobile in Boston.

Yupp thats a crime . it should come from the developers .. since the product has gone so many changes .. from 0.35 to 0.66 .. users can't wait to have a look .. but the thing is its still in private beta i guess.. and revealing about them is not that good...

anyways .. we users have to wait for the official announcement :( and the public release thereafter

Arrow Empower Mail Viewer 0.70 has arrived! - 06-26-2007, 09:07 AM

Hi,

Based on the feedback from of 0.66 we have made some improvements and the resultant version 0.70 is out now

Grab your copies at the usual urls -

OTA: www.getEmpower.com/emv.php
DM : www.getEmpower.com/emvzip.php

This release fixes two known issues we had with previous versions, namely
1. The view falling back to text-mode on longer emails during scrolling.
2. Space would only page once, and not more.

Some minor improvements here and there also been made to keep the program quick and fast..

Known issues -
1. Keyboard Shortcuts on 8100 to be implemented.
2. Some images do not show up correctly.

Sidenote for those 'new to Empower' :
  • Empower HTML Mail Viewer supports ALL OS version from 4.0.2 and above !
  • Empower integrates completely with your native email, so functions like View Attachments, Mark Unread, Save & File etc all work !

Let us know what you think of this release.

Thanks!

Wow! Looks like we are up to .70 now. All looks great with new preview options and so far, does not drop out on large emails. Looks like it is about there to me and the space bar works!!

This new release 0.70 is amazing! I think that your progress in this program has been fantastic. It no longer aborts the HTML view (that I can see), and it looks a little nicer/faster. Scrolling works better, although it doesn't support all the 7130 shortcuts (3/9 to page up/down for example), but I am sure this is being worked on.

I was wondering if you have considered adding an option to colorize threads in emails? That would be phenomenal. In the same vein, it would really be nice to colorize signatures too, and add horizontal rule lines for repeating dashes, e.g. ----------------- that is used as a separator in a lot of HTML emails.

As I said before, awesome work. Looking forward to version 1.0!

I have a 7130 and the keyboard shortcuts for "reply", "reply all", and "forward" no longer work in 0.70. Now if I press the "L" key it will reply. Also, it would be nice if pressing "enter" would work on a link instead of having to click the trackwheel twice. Thanks and great product!!!

Edit: Just played around a bit more and the "L" key actually does "reply all"

I have no doubt they are working on it and it is a fantastic program. Perhaps brevity won out over clarity, but what I was trying to get across was that the reply and forward functionality was there for me in 0.35 and was lost in this last upgrade. Just good ol' beta feedback...

.70 is looking good. One thing I noticed though is that when you open an email you don't see who all it was sent to. In other words, I can't scroll up like I can in the normal Blackberry viewer and see who all received the email. Any chance you can add the recipients back in so that we can scroll up to see them? Actually before this release it showed the recipients but the view defaulted to the recipients rather than the body of the message like the native Blackberry viewer (where you have to scroll up). That would be the ideal way to do it, if that's even possible. Loving the app though! Thanks for all the work!

Great job Empower and thanks for the update Ani. The new version is very stable and even worked for emails from TigerDirect, Dell, and Sharper Image. Those never worked in the older versions. I did update the review of Empower to reflect the new changes. Thanks again for this wonderful piece of software. I cant wait for the spellcheck and image cache.

Is there any chance that you could let us modify the formating for the header of each email? I noticed in the new version it shortens/changes the headers of my emails.

Great update... Works like a charm.. Hope it remains free. If so, this may very well lead the "Top 10 Must Have" OTA applications. E-Mails look just like they should... Keep up the good work Ani......

In addition to the SureType shortcuts no longer working, You can no longer access the Received Using, To, CC, and Sent lines. Hopefully all of these will return to the next release.

I tried to install .70 0ver.35. The DM wouldn't let me. Asked me to delete .35. I deleted .35. then the DM would not let me install at all. I ended up intalling OTA. It's working fine so far.

Other than the issue with losing the "received using" and to:, cc:, bcc:, fields I have to say that this program is up there with berry411....definite must-have.

fantastic upgrade! I like the fact that when from and subject are the only two things shown in header. Saves valuable real estate on the tiny screen

I love the new upgrade and would reccommend one thing, just enable the hotkeys for reply next msg etc to work with this software and then it'd be the perfect thing to have...i mean it already is this is just an added incentive....fully integrated software is always the best...GREAT JOB!

Arrow A big thanks for your unrelenting support. - 06-27-2007, 10:22 AM

thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you ALL.

Overwhelmed by the response but we are not resting. No way. Empower has a long way to go, so we will soon be seeing a version 1.0 now that will enable shortcuts on suretype devices as well. And the image issue will be gone for once and for all.

And then we will move on to bigger things - like spellcheck, folders and ... well other cool stuff that will blow you off !

In the meantime, keep spreading the word about Empower!

Cheers!

I have been going back and forth between empower and the "other" viewer. Finally decided to go with Empower and I don't regret it. Thanks for the upgrade, keep up the good work.

Ani,
Keep up the good work and I am looking forward to the folders.
