Default Mobio Releases GetMobio Lifestyle Portal Application for BlackBerry - 06-25-2007, 06:10 PM

Just thought I would share this post from our blog BerryReview | Giving back to the Blackberry Community since I did not find any information on the forums for Mobio. If anybody can get the RSS feature to work I would love to see how it compares to Viigo. I will be posting a review in the BBF Reviews section later in the week.

Mobio.com has released GetMobio for BlackBerry devices. This application gives you access to over 50 widgets on your BlackBerry including twitter, digg, RSS feeds, sports, and my favorite feature "Cheap Gas." This allows you to search for the cheapest gas near your preset locations. I currently did not see any GPS support for the 8800 but you never know. The RSS has some promise since it includes RSS feeds for the New York Times and ESPN. As of now I keep on getting errors when I try to open an RSS feed. Mobio also helps you to search for nightclubs, restaurants and local events. My only complaint is that each page seems to result in you waiting for the page to load. It makes a data request for each page you go to and sometimes this can be slow. Check out the screenshots after the jump and stay tuned for a review.

Sorry to hear that mate. I really dont have any connection to mobio so Im not quite sure what is going on nor could I fix it. Just a few lonely bloggers trying to give a little back to the community. The only two suggestions I can offer is that sometimes I find that you have to use a specific browser to get OTA installs to work. Usually the best is the blackberry browser or the wap browser, the BES browser will sometimes not work. You may also want to try it again without the www in the link so its just plain getmobio.com/nowbb . Tell me how it works out.

Default It says "0 bytes" but still works.... try again - 06-27-2007, 04:41 PM

I had the same issue with the DL. After clicking on the download button (in BB browser on BIS) it says that it's not familiar with my handset (8800c). So it allows you to select from a list > Blackberry > 8800 > then to the download page where it says the size is 0 bytes. Clicking on the Download button in spite of the apparent lack of data being downloaded will work and put an icon on your home screen.

My first impressions:

Pros: Nice looking interface, but looks ain't everything
Adds some nice features like Cheap Gas

Cons: Speed Speed Speed (or lack thereof) - it's way too graphic and background intensive to be fast. I can't use a program if it's too slow. That's why I dumped YahooGo right away too.

I may keep it for a week or two and see if anything improves, but my gut is that I won't want to keep it in favor of Viigo for RSS and the browser for everything else that I need.

Thanks for sharing it.
