Is the check for updates option not showing up for you? I remember OrganicBerry reported the same thing...Hope it's not an epidemic

THAT'S the confusion.....I was....and I bet Dirn was....looking for it on the option menu itself.

Clicked the wheel and it was there.

Hi All,

Just letting you know that v2.1 is up now
Nothing major in this release, just a couple of updates:

- Plain white is now available from the color pickers (should be the first option at the top of the list)

- File and View Folder options available for BES users

- Next unread message shortcut for suretype devices (*)

- Shortcut key to toggle summary/full details

- Integration with BeamBerry and RepliGo attachment viewers.

If you currently have v2.0, just go to the "BBSmart Options" screen and click the trackwheel to bring up the menu. Select "Check for Updates" and when prompted, install the new version. All your existing settings will be preserved including trial/full version status (I think the prompt says otherwise, but it's wrong)

More and more updates in the works - in some upcoming major releases you'll see some really interesting features make it in too...Never far away

Cheers,
eZainny.

Just updated. It kept all my old settings (it asked if I wanted to update from 1.1 though) other than that flawless and still working on mine.

Yeah, nothing super exciting in this release Just a quick update to add in some little things people have mentioned since 2.0. Next major update will be coming with some pretty cool stuff I think.

I guess I'm officially a "foot dragger"...but I finally bought the program this morning. I'm hooked...I can't go back to the "old" BlackBerry email display. I am so glad this program came along...because it was the thing that really cemented me as a BlackBerry user. I was really considering returning to my Treo 680 since it displayed html emails with very few issues if any at all.

Glad I'm finally "in" 100%. Thanks to eZainny and the boys for making the BlackBerry experience a more pleasureable one.

Now...back to that eBay email thing. What's up with that, eZainny? Take care of that problem and you've got a SmartView fanboy for life!!

Humm. I am running 2.0 but autoupdate says I am on the latest. I also went to the old OTA link and it says 2.0 is what it wants to download over the 2.0 that I have installed. Help.

Regarding the update not showing up, it seems like sometimes the old OTA link might be getting cached perhaps on the blackberry itself. There have been quite a few people report success detecting the update and getting it - I don't think it's a problem with the code or anything like that...Same thing happened when I put up the v2.0 download when I first put it up and then it just magically went away at some point

I haven't actually experienced it myself so I'm not too sure if this will work but maybe try opening up the BlackBerry browser and going to Options - Cache Operations and clearing your cache?

Regards,
eZainny.

OTA is a hit and miss and yes deleting cache works but what about the auto update from within the app it seems not to be able to hit site could not be contacted

That's exactly what it was. I was looking on the BBSmart Options screen. I wasn't expecting there to be a menu from the options screen.

Did the OTA and no problems. Love the new enhancements since I used RepliGo and also file my emails. Can you tease us with what may be coming in the next release v2.2?

Ummm...I just bought the program from the website, but I just checked my application list and it shows the 2.0 version. How do I find this "auto update" section of the menus you guys are talking about...?

Or, do I have 2.1 and don't know it?

Very strange. Never was able to get it to update via ota. The built in app and the website (yes, I cleared the cache) still seemed to say 2.0. Finally got the alx file from MobiHand and got it installed via desktop manager.

Has anyone else noticed this. I just upgraded from 2.0 to 2.1, and bb smart can't connect to test my connection. So no images come down. But I can still browse the net and everything, so it's not that I my connection isn't live.

Weird.

Would it be possible to integrate the inject features from Todo matrix and Idea matrix into Blackberry Smart?

Very Cool...

Couple of things....

1)is there anyway for you to make it keep my serial # when upgrading so we dont have to reactivate?
2)is there a way to make it prompt you to save/discard changes when making changes in the options and hitting the esc key? it just discards the changes without prompting
3) can you change the color options to state their names instead?

Hmmm...to tell or not to tell

Well, I do like to do surprises (and surprising our competitor too) so I really shouldn't say too much. I guess all I'll say is we are working on some big things here which will really change around the way you view emails. The tech. behind it isn't perfect yet but I'll probably start throwing up some screenshots in not too long just to demonstrate the kind of things we can do. Big changes.

Also, we want to move in other directions too - becoming less of a viewer and more of a complete email package. I've already mentioned once before we're going to be moving in on follow-up territory so that shouldn't surprise anyone.

We're also teaming up with some other big well known names in BlackBerry software and you'll start to see some tight integration with their programs and ours.

A lot of these things go well beyond v2.2 however. Long term goals

I think our program is a great investment from that point of view. It's only going to get better and better and more functional as time goes on. And we will always be doing these as free updates. Guaranteed.

Hi davistld01,

Sounds like you still have v2.0. To update to v2.1 go to BBSmart Options, click the trackwheel to bring up the menu and select the the first entry "Check for Updates". This should detect the update and prompt you to install it.

Regarding the ebay emails too, I took a stab at answering that one on the previous page (bottom of page 3).

Hi jwilker,

Perhaps just a once-off poor connection problem? BlackBerries don't really have rock solid connectivity. I don't think 2.1 is to blame for that - haven't heard anyone else report it and also there were no code changes at all to any connectivity stuff.

Check the quality of your reception and give it another shot. Let me know how it goes

Hi CableGuy,

I think the first two should be good. People I've talked to who have upgraded had all their settings preserved (including activation status).

Also when I make a change in the options screen, I get prompted to save/discard changes. Can anyone else confirm/deny this happens also?

Regarding 3), I suppose I'm happy to take a "vote" to see what people would prefer. We've received a bit of feedback from people telling us they like the new look of the color pickers so if I make the change it could be one of those situations where I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't

Cheers,
eZainny.

First of all, great application and customer service. Would it be possible to use the "enter" key to open links embedded in emails instead of using the "get link" option via the trackwheel. Keep up the good work.

My settings were preserved along with activation status too, on the 2.0 -> 2.1 in-viewer upgrade. The only times they weren't preserved were prior to 2.0, where either I didn't uninstall first (even though we were told to), or if I uninstalled first and then reinstalled (in which case, of course my settings were lost).

I am always prompted to save changes, even if I changed something and then changed it back before I exited.

My personal preference is to see what I get, rather than pick and then find I don't like it and then have to choose another. It's kinda the same for fonts, I don't have a clue what BBWhatsits size 9 might look like, but if I chose it and it was unreadable, I'd have to go change it to something else; whereas if I see it, I see immediately what it looks like instead of making the change, and then seeing.

Musta been gremlins. I wouldn't work all day yesterday no matter where I tried, but tried today and it was good.

I finally got the 2.1 update. Thanks...

I read the post on page 3 about the HTML being stripped off at the BIS level, but it seems like the eBay email deterioration has just started recently. Up until only a week or so ago, with the SmartView program I was able to read eBay emails easily as they were displayed correctly for the most part...and able to reply to said emails. What happened to make them change so?

BTW...your program was well worth the price paid. Thanks again for your work and staying on top of the "pulse" of this and other user forums...

My preference on this is something I believe John Clark mentioned earlier in this thread. The new color picker is great, but instead of displaying The quick brown fox..., display the name of the color. I use the default Lemon Chiffon, but if I decide to check out another color and don't like it, the only way to know which yellow is Lemon Chiffon is to select each yellow until I finally get the right one.

Ah, good point!

eZainny...got a major problem. PLEASE HELP!!!

I just bought a BB 8800 as my second device. I had originally bought and loaded your 2.0 version on my 8300, the upgraded to the 2.1 version. I used the BlackBerry Desktop Manager today to switch the data from my 8300 to my 8800...but the SmartViewer didn't make the transition. I checked my application list...and it shows the 2.1 to be there. But, when I open my email the screen saying "Trial Ended" comes on and prompts me to purchase and activate the full version...but I already have done that!!!

Don't tell me I have to buy a seperate program for each BlackBerry I own...

Isn't there a way to transfer the viewer from phone to phone...or am I missing something somehow that I should have done or be doing? Help!!!

Hi davistld01 (and I think this should answer tsalonia's question too),

We are happy to let you change devices. Just email us at [email address] and we'll get you setup with an activation key for your new device.

Cheers,
eZorro!!!

Note to self: New company logo must be some sort of Zorro 'Z' etched onto Blackberry...

eZainny:

Can you tell us if the issue raised in this other thread is a known or reported issue? http://www.blackberryforums.com/afte...tery-life.html

I think it is possible that my excessive battery drain today (which happened to be the first full day I used BBSmart Email Viewer) was a coincidence. However, considering that it was brought up by another user, I thought I'd ask.

For my part, I am using v2.1. BBSmart is not my default viewer, I only activate it when needed. My connection is via TCP/IP.
