Let's see if I can explain this properly. Right now you have a BBSmart Option that allows you to check as to whether the Subject line should be used as the task name or the appointment name. That works, but I often find that my clients use less than descriptive subject lines, so I either have to uncheck the BBSmart option and manually fill in the title I want to use, or go ahead and leave the option checked and edit as appropriate.

If your BBSmart options for naming allowed a pull down selection as opposed to a check box, with one of the options being use of the SmartTag if available, then you could name your task/appointment right in BBSmart and shoot it off to tasks/appointments, as appropriate. (BTW, I really like the ability to use that auto scheduling/tasking.) It might benefit if implemented as a ranking function, i.e., something like:

1. Use Smart Tag if available, else
2. Use Subject if available, else
3. Use sender if available, else
4. Ask

With the ability for the BBSmart user to define their personal rank structure. My personal structure would be as listed above, but others might rank Subject 1 followed by sender and Smart Tag.

Does this explain it? I really new another espresso.

Hey, eZainny...

Just loaded v2.2...and for some reason, I can tell there is a huge lag in loading the email completely and letting me scroll down with my trackball to read the entire message. I mean, sometimes I have to wait 15-20 seconds before I can even begin to scroll. Why is that?

BTW...if that is the way it is on v2.2...how can I downgrade to v2.1 or even v2.0?

Hi davistld01,

Yeah, that's certainly not what should be happening - I can't explain why though; I don't believe we've had anyone else report this post-upgrade. Possibly try a hard-reset to see if that gets rid of the problem, or perhaps simply install v2.2 fresh (uninstall first).

Funny devices, BlackBerries...

Cheers,
eZainny.

Actually, retrieving more requires network traffic to pull the next chunk from the server. Most likely the delays that you are seeing are a result of temporary network delays and/or poor coverage.

I always view emails with the full details in the header. Need to make sure the message wasn't sent to me directly or to see if someone should have been cc'ed. Seriously on 90% of my messages the header detail completely fills the entire screen. There has to be a way to change the header text to match the regular email text size or better yet control it individually.

This would add the "Import iCalendar" menu item. This software allows you to add Outlook calendar invites if your are only a BIS user.

By the way, awesome app!!

I also get a delay when scrolling down from the top of the emails. When it looks like it's done changing the view of the email, I attempt to scroll down the email. It stalls then all of a sudden it shoots too far down then I have to scroll back up. I'm using full details. This also happens when I scroll to the top & scroll back down.

This is a DEFINITE BUG. Scrolling starts at the top of the header and not at the top of the message. This is where the perceived delay comes from and why the email will jump. You have no idea where you are when scrolling.

It seems it is just the Pearl that is not supported by the vCardMaster. Also a new version seems to come soon. I hope the Pearl is supported by the new version.

Hi hooper610,

Yep, in the next release we will put in options to configure the header font size & face. Thanks for the feedback! (and apologies about the delay in replying!)

Cheers,
eZainny.

Yep, also aware of this one. Integrating with other software can be a little bit tricky at times - however, this one will definitely go into the next release!

I am running the 2.2 trial version. Does Beamberry work with BBSmart Email Viewer? I am getting a “Retrieving Document” page for over 5 minutes with no results. I cannot open any email attachments using Beamberry since I downloaded BBSmart.

Please advise….I am very impressed with the program and would like to purchase it, however, I need Beamberry to work.

**EDIT: I guess Beamberry server is down, it is now working...please disregard**

One thing that sometimes causes me to switch back to the native message viewer is when I want to click on an address in the From/To/CC header and add it to my address book. If possible, I'd love to see this functionality built into SmartView.

Hi RadioDude,

Quite shortly we will be putting out some fix updates which add in some minor features (customizable header font size, etc.) and interface improvements.

However, the big update is still a little ways off - probably about a month or so. We're packing in a pretty big feature in this one which is really going to turn some heads and is technically quite challenging. For competitive reasons I don't really want to mention what exactly it is but I suppose I can hint that this will really change the way you view certain emails and in a very significant way

Thanks for sticking with us all the way too!

Cheers,
eZainny.

Yep, working on this one. The header/scrolling situation at the moment is a bit less than ideal and we are re-working it now. Thanks for your feedback!

Simply open an email on your BlackBerry in the usual way and you should see our application pop up.

Just wanted to say that I was an early user of the 'other' program and the improvements made to BB smart and the class shown by its creator (IE not registering alternate accounts to praise his product) have moved me to buy a copy for myself and soon one for my girlfriend.

Great program, I look forward to the improvements in version 3!

Love the program and good work! I saw a few pages earlier someone asked if it was possible to bold or increase font size in message heading for easier viewing. I didn't see an answer. Should i take that as there is no way to change this? Thanks

Also I just noticed a strange thing. First let me give you my details-VZW 8830/4.2 I have three email accounts on device 1 BES 2 BIS. When I go into my work email account(BES) and choose compose new email and send it is sent from one of my personal email accounts. I have gone into options and changed Email Header display options to my work account(BES) and save and close. When I go back to options it has automatically reverted to one of my personal BIS accounts. Now, when I select compose new email I do have "Send Using" in the header with [Default] . I can click on default and get to choose from Desktop( do not know what desktop is), Personal BIS account 1, and personal BIS account 2. Evidentally default is associated with one of my personal BIS accounts, but I can't or more likely do not know how to change the default.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

This is not a BBSmart Viewer issue per se since it uses the default RIM e-mail application to send messages. There are a couple of issues here:

1) "Desktop" apparently refers to your BES account. You can change the name of this within the Desktop Manager application of the PC. Within the Desktop Manager, select E-Mail Settings.

2) You need to select the default account for sending e-mails. To do this, open the Options application from the BlackBerry homepage. Select Advanced Options, followed by Message Services. Change the value of Messaging (CMIME) to your preferred account.

3) When you send an e-mail to a contact using an account other than the default, the RIM e-mail application remembers that selection for future messages to the same contact.

Hope this helps explain what you are seeing.

Now, before everyone jumps on me for this, to state, I am not on a BES. I know this. Each time I try to view images, I get the following error:

Quote:
The application net_rim_bb_messaging_app has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy.
It says my firewall is enabled, yet I have never enabled the firewall myself, nor are there any IT policies on my handset. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them. Sorry if this is elsewhere, I checked around but didn't find much. Sometimes I skip the important stuff.

You have leftover policy. Is the device used?

You might try the Remove IT Policy sticky. A Blank IT Policy won't show in the Security Options but is still there. You may have one and not know it.

Nah, this device has always been mine. Never setup on a BES or anything. I'll give it a shot, though. I thought that this wouldn't allow me to disable the firewall, though ...

You can't disable it but I *think* it fixes the inside/outside issue. Can't remember for sure, though.

Actually, it only kind of works ... it still gives me the error that there is a connection issue, and that images will not be shown by default; however, if I manually load the images from the Menu, they will load fine.

Hi Spencer_CDS,

Head to the BBSmart Connection Options screen, do a "Test Connection" and then when you get the success message, head back to the BBSmart Options screen and tick "Display Images in Emails". Thereafter when you open emails images should automatically load.

Well, here's the thing ... it doesn't give me a successful test message. It'll tell me to check my radio coverage, etc. and try again; however, it still renders the messages with no problem and if I manually attempt to load the images, they'll load.

Just when everyday seemed to greet me with a smile, sunspots have faded, and now I'm doing time.

Default BBB Default Fonts - 08-21-2007, 12:53 PM

I know this feature has been requested a couple of times earlier in this thread, but I'd love to see the default BB fonts available in the BB Smart viewer. I'm a big fan of BBClarity and find it much easier to read than any of the choices currently offered.

I too use BBClarity as my font, and would like to see it in BBSmart.

Thanks,

I'm going to send and email to support but just wondering if you found a solution to this.

This also happens to me (tmo bis .107) with every email no matter how new or old. Once I get this figured out though this app is mine.

Hello, we're still busy working on the next release here It actually hasn't been that long since we put out our last release (v2.3). This was on the 1st September so in the grand scheme of things we're not talking a lot of time here! I don't think I've seen any mobile apps. go through such a rapid release cycle as we have.

Some of the things we are trying to do with the next release are fairly ambitious and need time to be massaged. I guess all I can say is it's done "when it's done"

Cheers,
eZainny.
