Some of the things we are trying to do with the next release are fairly ambitious and need time to be massaged. I guess all I can say is it's done "when it's done"

Your current version works quite nicely. I'd rather see a stable major upgrade than something rushed to market.

eZainny,
What is your response to Empower's new Pro version? Will we see a BBsmart update offering similar speed and inline graphics loading?
My girlfriend and I are both pleased with our copies of BBsmart but there is certinly room to grow.

Yes...my experience w/the two is that Empower now has more speed and a better way of dealing w/the graphics...still like the formatting of BBSmart viewer, however. Would really like to see BBSmart match or exceed the Empower speed, and provide an option for graphics loading that doesn't delay looking at the text in the email...
And I agree about not rushing...a solid product is preferred to one hurried out!

Does anyone know how to get a new PIN number for BBsmart if you switch devices? I originally bought BBsmart in September from the Pocketselect - Games and software for Windows Mobile, Symbian, Java Mobile, PocketPC, Blackberry and Palm OS! web site. I have been emailing them for days now, but they have not responded. I have even tried mailing support at BBsmart but no
resply. Am I just out of luck and have to pay $24.99 to buy a new license so it will work on my new Pearl?

You are right as they got back to me within minutes after I sent them a second email using my alternate email address. The first message was sent using AOL which always seems to have email problems. I only wish all the companies I deal with were as timely responding as BBsmart is.

Yeah, last time I switched to a new device I sent them my new pin and had a new activation code working in under 10 minutes. Just another reason Id like to keep using their software. Hopefully we can get the official word about their next release soon.

Hi All,
Yes, we are hard at work on the next release right now. Here is the lowdown on what is going on:
We've been talking to RIM and we know that true HTML email is on the way for the BlackBerry - it's not clear exactly when but we do know it is coming. With that in mind, our next version of BBSmart Email Viewer is going to be packing quite a few new features outside the realm of just providing HTML email display. We do this so that when HTML email finally does come along, BBSmart Email Viewer will continue to be a great investment and since all our upgrades are guaranteed free forever this is at no additional cost.
BryanHarig: Our response is to do what we always do - innovate. Almost every feature you see in any competitors product was conceived and developed by us first including the whole email viewer concept. We're not interested in being unoriginal copy-cats. And because we guarantee that all our updates are free forever, when upgrade time does roll around because RIM releases HTML email, we're not going to try and hit your wallet repeatedly like competitors do.
We are hoping to have the beta out this month and along with new innovate features and speed improvements, includes what I think is a really cool new BIG feature you haven't seen anywhere before. Think big as in "this could really be a popular separate application" big
I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on our progress as the release date approaches! Thanks for your patience and if you enjoy using our software be sure to tell your friends!
Cheers,
eZainny.

Glad to hear it! I know you are busy working but more regular status updates would probably go a long way to keeping us excited about BBSmart!
If you need Beta testers for the new version I know that I for one would be happy to help!

Exactly the opposite -- you missed this part: "And because we guarantee that all our updates are free forever, when upgrade time does roll around because RIM releases HTML email, we're not going to try and hit your wallet repeatedly like competitors do."

Ok.. So that was RIM right? So RIM finally releases HTML email.. Forcing the third party people (i.e. BBSmart Email Viewer) to provide more than just HTML email or perhaps a better product. Which brings me to the next question, what could it possibly be? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to knock on BBSmart Email Viewer.. I use it and I completely love the software. It's a must-have application.

Then why the post about "another opportunity to charge users"? Sounds like a knock to me...
Actually, even if/when RIM releases HTML email display capability...it probably won't be on the current devices. I'm not really looking forward all that much to the new 9xxx series with the much-rumored multi-touchscreen...so I'll probably hang onto my 8310/8820 devices until something really new and improved comes along with a qwerty keyboard. And, that means that I'll keep the BBSmart program...and hope that the newest versions offer even nicer and clearer display options than ever before.

As a new BB Curve user, and newcomer to the BB world, I find the email service to be impressive, but the email interface leaves much to be desired. There's plenty that could be done to improve it. For example, there's no reason why there couldn't be an email app that supports separate folders for each mail account, each of which has subfolders for Sent mail, drafts, and saved mail.
I think it's possible that when you click on a link in an email, you could be given a choice of which browser to open the link in, if more than one browser is installed.
Quoted text in replies could be included in '>' format, and editable, as it should be.
Menu hotkeys!

Hello. I dont have time to read through all the posts so this might have been asked before. I apologize if that is the case.
I just downloaded the bbsmart email viewer to my blackberry pearl 8130 and am having trouble establishing a connection. My service provider is telus, and I am having a very difficult time finding my WAP apn. The BES/MDS, BIS and TCP/IP options all give me the error message "Connection Failure!" or just take forever attempting to connect without really getting anywhere. So I'm wondering if I can even connect with my current service provider or if I just wasted that money downloading it for nothing. Any help is greatly appreciated.
And if I'm in the wrong place let me know :P
