Default Newsclip 1.1 for BlackBerry (Maintenance release)

Please Login to Remove!

We've just released version 1.1 of Newsclip, which address a few of the key issues people were reporting on this forum. 1.1 is a free upgrade from 1.0 (your original registration code will work). What we've done since 1.0:

- Better feed support (a lot of fixes here, RSS 1.0 {e.g. Slashdot} and Atom support)
- Some usability and cosmetic fixes
- An option to NOT run the application in the background, for people who were concerned it was chewing on the battery

You can upgrade or download the trial at Handango:
http://www.handango.com/PlatformSear...earch=newsclip

1.1 is more of a maintenance release than a major upgrade, we wanted to fix the problems that existed. Its been 2.5 months since we released 1.0, and we've spent a lot of time fixing and testing, testing, testing to make this app as solid as we can. We also strive to make Newsclip as "BlackBerry" as we can - if that makes sense. We want it to feel like a native BlackBerry app, not something that has been crudely ported from a mobile phone.

We are working hard now on introducing many of the features that some of you have been asking for (and we apologize that they're not in this release). The *major* feature is (and TheMatrix will thanks us) organizing the feeds by source. And we have some really cool organization and management features that I think are pretty revolutionary in RSS, and we can't wait to show them off in the next release.

Thanks to all who have given us feedback on BlackBerryForums.com: some of it has been ego-stroking (you know, the kind that we post internally to make us all feel like we're doing a good job), some of it constructive. Its really helping us drive this product forward. Please continue to post about the product: I read this forum religiously. If something doesn't work, or if you find a feed that fails that shouldn't - post it (and chew us out if you want). We have tried hard to make all the feeds work, but undoubtedly there are some subtle feed nuances that we didn't catch. If you can help us plug those holes it would be greatly appreciated.

I also want to emphasize that the feature requests being posted are really important - they're helping us make decisions on what to add.

Thanks all, and enjoy!

-Jay
