I was having problems with the original BB alarm. Some times it would not sound the alarm. It would display the snooze and off option but no sound. I downloaded "my alarm" it worked with no problems until I tried to turn the alarm off. It would not shut off. I eventually had to pull the battery to shut it off. I uninstalled it shortly after.

Thanks a million for this alarm app.
It works like a charm, and it came at just the right time as I was just about to do a search for decent apps.

Peace,

I have been using this application for quite a while on an 8830 on 4.5.051 there is a serious issue. The issue is the alarm will not make noise. There are two cases I have identified that cause this;

One, When there is a calendar appointment being displayed it will not play a sound.

Two, When you have it plugged into a laptop with USB the alarm will not sound.

In both cases the alarm dialog apears just no sound.
I have not tested this with Beep just MP3 files... I really want to like the app but I am going to have to switch. You can imagine trying to use your laptop as the charging station and going to sleep knowing the BB will alarm, then it doesn't and you miss an appointment.

Oh another issue is if you have to pull your battery out and restart the phone the myalarm application doesn't automatically start. So you wake up late the next morning and find that your alarm never sounded and realize you never re-opened myalarm and forced a save... I am off to find a new alarm now.

Tried your MyAlarm on 7130g, it works.

Thanks!

I found that if I leave an alarm un-acknowledged, the alarm tone of next one will be in-correct.

I would suggest as following:
If we set Tone play once, 5 or 10 times, just play the tone and allow any key press (even turn track wheel) to acknowledge it.
If we set Tone play Infinite, then we allow what we have now when alarm comes.

It is a great application, thanks.

Ive been using this app for a while now and its great, but within the last week or so when the alarm goes off its not playing a sound, instead it asks for permission to open local content. I have to grant it permission before it will play the alarm! I tried going in and setting all permissions to 'allow' but this issue is still happening. Any ideas?

It isn't the best solution as it might cause problems with other apps, but you can go to Options > Security Options > Firewall and enable it. The next time you run MyAlarm, hit the menu button and click "Play Beep". The firewall will ask for your permission. After hitting allow, it will never ask again.

how do you make the tone louder? even on 100 you can barely hear it in holster or pocket!

First of all, thank you for this app. It's an awesome replacement for the Berry's native alarm.

The problem is I am running into the permissions glitch too. I try set it to play a song in the music folder of my SD card and it asks for permission each time. I set all permissions (and yes I remembered to expand the three categories!) to Allow. I tried enabling the firewall, but all this did was cause it ask for permissions with a different question.

Isn't there any viable workaround for this problem on an otherwise great app?

After enabling the firewall and granting it access once, that should be sufficient and it should never ask for permission again. I think I recall there being check boxes above the "Allow" button. I think I checked both boxes. If that doesn't work, I don't know what will

Is anybody else having this problem? Thanks.
I'm having the same issue. I'm not sure the logic it uses either, because I've tried forcing an exit before and/or after changing the time zone and it still screws up. It will actually change the displayed setting. This is very frustrating for me as I'm a pilot and am constantly changing between all 4 US time zones...

I tested it once and thought I had it figured out, but some time between 10pm and 6am (maybe midnight, I don't know?) it changed my alarm time.

Is this program still supported, or does anyone know of another one?

Default Myalarm not in Applications list - 06-10-2009, 05:31 PM

Somebody posted:
Thanks for the wonderful application OP and i must say i have gotten quite used to this alarm but the only problem i have encountered for the first time is on my new curve ( previously had it installed on the pearl ). When the alarm rings to any SD cardmp3 file, the application always want's me to allow permission so the mp3 can play. It only vibrates 1 time then the permission message appears thus not letting the mp3 file play unless i click ok. I will definitely miss the alarm at 630am this way cause i definitely wont be awake to click ok, lol.

I hope you have a solution for this.

Runnin:

OS 4.2.2.171
T-Mo Curve
alarm version: 7 25 2007.

P.S. Let me give you the exact message i get.

The application MyAlarm has attempted to open local content. Would you like to allow this? the gives a yes and no option before the actual file plays.

The author replied with:

Hi, just answered your PM. Basicly, check in options -> adv. opt -> App. the permissions of the app. make sure file permissions are set to allow!

the thing is that in the applications list the program Myalarms isn't even in the list... so the question still keeps on popping up.

Can anyone help????

thanks for the app. I have the adorno program and it doesn't offer anything (that I use) that yours doesn't plus I have issues with it using "autolock"

Is there anyway to get it to vibrate+tone??? Just like I would have on my phone which is a vibrate+tone

Thought it might be possible and I'm missing it.

Mine keeps saying "The application MyAlarm has attempted to open local content. Would you like to allow this?" So it isn't playing my ringtones from my microSD. (I would like to say thanks for the BEEP noise feature.. but the volume simply isn't sufficient enough to wake me. If there is a fix for my issue above then this app gets 5/5)

If you read through old posts, a workaround is to enable firewall. After doing that, it will only ask once, then remember and never ask again (same for using Opera mini).

In case you don't know how to enable it, go to Options > Security Options > Firewall > Enable

If it creates more problems than it it fixes, I guess you'll have to disable the firewall and find another alarm.. there is no other free one, by the way

Default What about when you have a password enabled? - 06-27-2009, 04:20 PM

First, this is an awesome application. I can't thank lhurtado enough for fixing this major lacking out of the box.

I've been through all the issues everyone else has reported thus far in the thread and clicking the right checkboxes and using the firewall fixed all of them. Unfortunately, I've got a new wrinkle...

If I have a password set on my BlackBerry (which we should all probably do), I have to enter that password before I can snooze/disable MyAlarm. Is there any way around that? This makes MyAlarm virtually unusable for me because I have to choose between ~7 clicks to enable/disable my password twice a day or using this fantastic alarm.

The native alarm app does manage to get through the password protection to allow the alarm to be snoozed/disabled, so it is definitely possible.

I hope someone else has encountered this and has a solution. Otherwise, consider this a speedy feature request, lhurtado!

Thanks in advance for any tips!

Thanks developer for this app.
MyAlarm vibrates first, then rings the tone.
I like to have a option in this app to stop vibration.
or, kindly tell me how to stop that vibration.

Default New problem with this app - HELPPP!!! - 07-28-2009, 09:57 AM

It seems nobody in the forum has been in the same issue i'm about to describe:

Briefing:
I had de "local content permission" problem with Myalarm in my 8130 (OS, and found the firewall solution in this very forum, so i'm very happy with myalarm using my mp3 tones thanks to you all.

Actual Problem:
I tryed the "alarm code" setting to avoid unconscious turning off of the alarms (wich often occurs to me) and it's a great idea, BUT when i enter the code, and the alarm stops, the "enter code" window stills on screen, and i don't know how to get rid of it, i've tried to enter the code once again and clickng the "turn alarm off" button, and doesn't work, then i tried turning off and on the device and the alarms screen stills there!! the only solution i have found is pulling the battery, but that's not an effective solution!!

while the alarm screen is shown, i can't perform anything with the phone, even if y switch to another app with de [ALT+RETURN] shortcut, the new app is shown but the alarm screen is on top and won't let me do anything, not even open a menu for the other app!!

Can someone please help???

I'm having the same problem as menotbug, except I have an 8330. But I'm also using OS 4.5, the latest software, etc.

I get the impression it hasn't been updated in awhile, and as a result, compatibility issues have cropped up.

I had to uninstall the app, because like menotbug, I was completely locked out until I removed the battery.

The following thread may of interest to others having a similar issue:
