I don't think Ani is monitoring this thread anymore on this forum. However, I was just over at Pinstack and it appears that he is monitoring and posting on that forum for Instaspell instead?

Tony, I have both your emails about the bulk check issues - glad to say that its been fixed in the next version. Will be there in your inboxes pretty soon. Also, I am monitoring all our threads on all forums. The delay was due to the next release and some faster development on one of our forthcoming products.
For now, here is presenting InstaSpell 0.92for public release.

InstaSpell v0.92 is here! -
07-27-2007, 05:46 PM
Hi All,
Wait over. We are ready with the public release of Empower InstaSpell v0.92
The beauty of InstaSpell is this -
1. Universal: First the star attraction - Empower InstaSpell is made to be universal !
That means it will do spell check for you not only in emails but also in SMS, Notes, Tasks memo etc. Some people have reported it working with some 3rd party apps as well.
2. As-you-type: InstaSpell detects incorrect words as soon as you type them! Expected it to be instantaneous on all devices (even those on low-memory). For those wanting spell check at the end there is an option for that as well in your menu. Just click on SpellCheck after you are done writing your email.
3. On-device: Fully on-device. Unlike server-based checking where the whole text is sent to server, InstaSpell is fully on-device. This real advantage is not that it saves your data usage on every email. The real importance of on-device spell check is for privacy reasons - both of your business and personal emails.
We hope you will find Empower InstaSpell with its On-device, As-you-type, Universal spell checking abilities a good companion for your spell checking needs.
How to Install:
OTA
1. InstaSpell first: http://www.getempower.com/isc/isc.php
2. Dictionary second: http://www.getempower.com/isc/dict.php
PC-DM: http://www.getempower.com/isc/isc.zip
Please install InstaSpell first and then Dictionary. Once both are installed, you will see an 'abc' icon on your HomeScreen. Open it, and click on Install button to Index the dictionary. Indexing is important to increase the lookup speed and enable compression. Indexing should take around 30sec - 1 min to complete. Once indexing is over, you will see some stats like - Word Count. Tick the Enable SpellCheck and exit.
Let us know how you like it. Thoughts, feedbacks are welcome. This version expires on July 30th when the next public version goes live. Also keep an eye on this thread for an important forthcoming announcement.
Thanks,
Ani.

Hello Ani,
As noted to you in my other email, it now works great in bulk mode on Notes and Tasks. However, it still does not have a bulk spell option when making appointments (works ok in single word correction). I don't know if you did that intentionally or what.
Also, it seems to have issues with apostrophes. For example, I spelled "don't" as "dont". It was either not in the main dictionary or it could not recognize it so I added it to the user dictionary as "don't". The next time I spelled "dont" it still did not recognize it either in the main and/or in the user dictionary.

Fred - i think the lib & dict have got mixed up on ur device. Would say uninstall everything - and reinstall fresh. See if that fixes it.

No crashes for me, working good so far. Just a thought, I know some folks have complained that the underline of a misspelled word is hard to see. Is it possible to color a word? For instance, could you make the misspelled word RED?

that did it - uninstalled and re installed - thanks!
also, I think this was mentioned earlier, simple words like don't, how's, won't are not recognized in dictionary - why not?

Mine gets stuck at 50% when I install the library! Every time! I did the PC installation instead of the OTA installation because i was having problems accessing the dict.php! However, when it's stuck at 50% I say i wanna quit the installation and then it says word list installed correctly!!! then i see this
Status: word installed
compression:100%
empower wordlist:32823
etc...

rockbottom8,
I've run into the exact same problem and I'm also on an 8830. You can simply leave it "forever" and I never get past 50%. Then all spell checking is messed up as 1/2 of the dictionary is not there.
It would be nice to see if anyone else with an 8830 or 88xx is having the issue to know if it's device specific.

Ani,
Had about 22 mb of free space when I downloaded the application. Even though it should be about 760K of space, am now down to 17.5 mb of free space. Has anyone else had this issue and how much space should the app use?

hmmm. Do i have to uninstall BBCorrector first for this to work? I have enabled the check box but it doesn't appear to be working! What am I missing here? I am using a Pearl and Suretype. Does it put the correctly spelled word in the Suretype list. I'm confused. Help!

Also when checking SMS there is not a "check all option". Will this be able to work with the gmail application at any point? There is no spell check right now for this.

Just downloaded and ran a quick test. Firstly, the homepage icon is pretty cool. Secondly, the app works (in the very brief test I just did) perfectly. This is an awesome development for the BB.

Hopefully there is a new version soon, I downloaded .92 today and it doesn't work (presumably because it expires today).

I just found this thread today, tried to install the app and then read it was only good until yesterday because the new public version would be out. Does anyone know where to install it from? I would like to give it a go, it sounds like a nice app.
I'm BACK with my Curve 8310.

I installed the app and dict. But it wouldn't open. (Clicking on the ABC button does nothing. I remain in the home screen with nothing happening.) I uninstalled and re-installed both and it still doesn't work. Am I missing anything?
My BB is a Verizon 8830. Thanks.

The version you downloaded is 0.92, it expired yesterday, we're all waiting for Ani to post the new version, it doesn't work for any of us so just hang tight until the next version is posted, probably 0.94 or 0.95 unless he goes out of beta to 1.0.

It did the same thing to me even when it wasnt expired. You have to click the ABC sometimes five or six times but it will open. Once I had to just hold the trackwheel in for a second and it opened. The thread says it expired yesturday but mine still works!

Ani--
Now we've all concluded that InstaSpell v0.92 expired yesterday. It was a bit of a tease as I was only able to use it less than 24 hours (I just discovered that it was available yesterday). When can we expect the next public version to come available?
Thanks.

So, two full days past the expiration with no one's app working any longer, and Ani has gone AWOL, huh?

Empower InstaSpell v0.99 Public Release -
08-01-2007, 09:17 PM
Sorry, sorry, sorry! I want to say that in bigger fonts but that would spoil what is to follow below
InstaSpell v0.99 -
1. Implements Bulk Spell check (spell check at the end) in Notes and Tasks as well.
2. Directly Add words to User Dictionary. Use the menu item under Custom wordlist screen.
3. Backup for User Dictionary - is important as user dictionary gets built up with usage over time and we don't want to loose it!
Please uninstall the previous version before installing the new version.
OTA:
InstaSpell first - http://www.getempower.com/isc/isc.php
Dictionary next - http://www.getempower.com/isc/dict.php
PC-DM: http://www.getempower.com/isc/isc.zip
Try it out. Also, the next version is in works so let us know your feedback / suggestions for the same.
Thanks!
Ani.

2 questions:
1. I have an 8300 with spellchecking built in, would I benefit at all with this app?
2. How much memory does it take up? Seems like the dictionary would have to be fairly large.
Thanks
