This is my first post around here and as a noob in blackberry world i would like to ask some questions to some experienced blackberry IM and GPS users.

Besides e-mail functionality i use a lot IM and GPS, until now i have a HTC TyTn + BT GPS with TOMTOM + 100MB monthly GPRS/3G data plafond - per month i use usually 70-90MB (with also some web surfing).

Now i'm considering buying a Blackberry Curve and maintain my bluetooth GPS (i prefer this option instead of using a "bigger" 8800 since i already got the gps).

My home operator "unlimited" and unique BIS blackberry pricing plan includes 10MB so i'd like to know if this would be enough for about 1h per day of IM client just for chat on msn without any kind of file transfer? (i'm considering Jive Talk for IM client but if there other msn options that generate less data traffic please tell me).

My second question is: what options do i have for a good GPS offline service (maps store in microsd) or online service (like pc googlemaps that download the maps in real time)? Does the second option generate large amounts of data traffic? I doesn't need services/radar informations, correct and recent road european maps would be fine for me.

Do you think that the 10MB are enough for all i want or i'll stay better with my "non compressed" 100MB gprs data (and the TyTn instead of the Curve)?

from my uses so far with jivetalk (about 3weeks worth) i've noticed with heavy chatting, 1 hour = aprox 200kb while idle time i've used aprox 1200 kb for 48hours

It is virtully impossible to pedict your data needs, even with the good description of your needs.

I don't know of any of any "GPS offline service (maps store in microsd)". GoogleMaps and BBmaps both use streaming data and do not store maps on the SD card. I don't of one for the BB that does, maybe another user here will let us know if there is.
