Default PocketMac and BlackBerry sync problem

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

First of all, I should advise that I am a brand new user to BlackBerryForums.com. I have searched under 'Macintosh-BlackBerry Sync Requirements' and other areas but can't find an answer to my problem. I am a complete novice user of the Mac (I have a PowerBook G4) having used PCs for years.

Last weekend, I downloaded 'PocketMac for BlackBerry' software and I have reached the point where I can 'see' the BB emblem at the top of my Mac with the emblem showing a black screen. The PocketMac software version is 3.1.

I can't get the Mac to 'see' the BB device (It's a BB 7730 connected by a USB cradle - the BB device is used via the web rather than being a company BB). There is no power to the BB cradle, it simply plugs into the USB socket on the Mac.

Tried all the ideas that PocketMac suggest on their website to fix problems but without success including disabling the firewall on the Mac. There is no password on the BB and the time zones on the Mac
and the BB are both the same. Tried rebooting both the Mac and softbooting the BB. I'm running OS X version 10.3.9
The console log says something like 'RimInitialize USB - initialization for port failed' - I've no idea how to solve this !

Can anyone help me on this ? I have logged a 'ticket' six days ago with PocketMac but had no response.

same exact problem here. installed pocketmac onto my g5 and it will not recognize the blackberry. i even checked my USB properties and the blackberry is being recognized by my computer, just not by pocketmac. Pocketmac "customer service" has been useless and their FAQ/troubleshooting guides are no help. basically i feel like i wasted $30!

Are you trying to sync via bluetooth -- you can't - you have to use USB. I am using Tiger & Pocketmac successfully. Used it with 10.3 as well. Any error messages? Logs?

I've solved my problem now with some help also from PocketMac after receiving a reply to the ticket I logged.

I uninstalled V3.11 and installed V3.092

This completely solved the problem. i.e. V3.092 works for me with OSX 10.3.9

Version 3.092 can be found if you go to PocketMac's site then

click on ''Get Tech Help Now"
then Downloads (view our library of downloads)
and the version 3.092 is in there....

Hope this helps someone in the future who suffers the same problem !

I think that you can sync with Bluteooth via the Treo 600/650 and the SX66. Sadly, I'm going to get rid of Cingular in a few hours (Sprint better be better...) and switch to the PPC 6600 which is Pocket PC. If I don't shoot myself in twelve hours, we'll consider it successful. I'm not sure about the switch though, I have used the RIM handhelds for years.

Crossing my fingers...
