JiveTalk is great for IM but it's not free beejive :: JiveTalk mobile messaging supports AIM®/iChat, MSN®, Yahoo!®, GoogleTalk®, ICQ®, and Jabber. It uses your data plan. There are definitely other IM programs but this one is my favorite.

For using Skype on BlackBerry I have tried iSkoot, Nimbuzz and IM+ For Skype. I could not get iSkoot to work very well. Nimbuzz supports text only and is still a buggy beta. I use IM+ For Skype everyday. It also needs some refining, for example it does not link to the BlackBerry notification profiles. I heard Fring works ok, but it is only available for some Nokia phones.

I wish fring supports BB. I like the idea of the 'fring' thou.

I will get a windows mobile device and I will test this program.
