Default InfoSpace Find It! V1.4 is available - 08-01-2007, 11:51 AM

Back again for another update. Sorry for the absence, the team has been focusing on the new release. InfoSpace Find It! V1.4 is available for download via the normal download site.

OTA: InfoSpace Find It! for BlackBerry

Here is a quick summary of some of the new features. First and foremost, I wanted to let you know we heard you loud and clear about the upgrade notifications last time around. Moving forward we have a link directly to the download page when you accept the new download. Since this is the first client with this feature, you will get the benefit next upgrade. Notifications for existing users will happen by Friday, of you are impatient, feel free to download it.

Ratings
We now have ratings for some businesses exposed. Not all businesses have ratings, but these are ratings from users of multiple sources. (not just InfoSpace). If we have a rating, you will see it in the business listing now. This is fantastic to get a baseline of how good (or bad) a business is.

Wi-Fi Hotspots
You can now browse through categories for Wi-Fi Hotspots. Many of you are out and about on a regular basis in need of connectivity. This makes it a little easier.

Copy Business to Clipboard
Lookup a business details page and bring up your context menu. You now see an option to copy the business to the clipboard. This is great for sending a friend the details of where you want to meet them.

Copy Directions to Clipboard
To go along with the afore mentioned COPY BUSINESS TO CLIPBOARD, we also now have COPY DIRECTIONS TO CLIPBOARD. If you look up directions for a business and go to either the step by step or ALL directions, you can copy those to the clipboard as well. Now not only can you tell people what business you are at, but how to get there.

Directions Improvements
If you like to use the step by step directions (and many of you rave about it), you will be happy to see the improvement we made this time around. Now segment maps are on by default, and each step of the segment map is pre-loaded so they are available on your handset faster.

Try it out...
- get directions to a location
- choose #2 (turn by turn)

You will see great improvements here.

View 5 on Map
Now if you get a listing of businesses and choose "view 5 on map", you will notice the layout is a little easier to follow. Just a slight UI tweak to help you out.

Does it support "puck" GPS units in this release?

This is way better than the last version. Love the Wi-Fi Hotspot finder. The maps update a little slow but they are still useful.

Without commiting to anything... you can expect puck support sooner than later. How is that for a product guy's answer.

We definitely want to bring puck support to market, but we want to do it in a way that makes sense for you, and not just throw the feature in. User Experience is a large focus of ours.

I can't DL it. I keep getting "907 Invalid COD. Unable to import ZIP file."

Cleaned Cache, etc. Still no go. AT&T Curve.

I am going to have our QA Lead contact you. There are very few reasons you should be limited on connectivity outside the BB. We would like to understand why you are not getting there.

I can't download the new version on my 8830. When I go to the link above, select Verizon as my carrier, I then get a list of bb models. 8830 is listed at the bottom right before "Other", but I cannot select the 8830 link. I can select every other link, but the cursor jumps over the 8830 link (it jumps from the 8800 link to the "Other" link). It is not selectable for some reason.

EDIT: weird, I accidentally hit the "b" key while on the model list page and it went to the 8830 link... ?

The reason I'm having problems is that I'm on a BES and browsing, etc via the BES is currently blocked. I browse etc via TCP/IP on t-mobile. For applications like berry411 I must select direct connection or disable MDS Proxy to be able to access the web, etc. Opera Mini can automatically determine the best way to connect and works in my situation as well. If Find It! would allow me to select a direct connection I'm sure it would work.

Hey, I just got a 8703e, and I want to install InfoSpace Find It!, but after i download it and it opens WinZip, I don't know what to do. If you could just give me a quick explanation on what to do from there that would be awesome, thanks!

Any chance that you will be releasing the build with the Built-in-GPS to work on the Sprint 8830. Thanks.

Default Unable to connect/load - 08-13-2007, 12:31 PM

I have installed the current version on my BB 8800 (Cingular/BES) and cannot get the program to start or load. I get the loading screen with the animated red status bar and then receive the message "Unable to start InfoSpace, Find It!. Possible network problems, try again."

I have no problem using google maps, telenav, Berry 411, web browsing, etc.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Andrew

all I have to say is wow! Best utility for info I have used yet!

*Will you be adding more restaurant ratings?
*Also, how about Movie ratings as well?
*Can you add option to save favorite cities? (no limit)

Thanks!
Keep up the fantastic job

OK.. sorry for my absence here. I was actually taking a little vacation.

For the download errors, we will look into it. I have not seen that many failures, but we will figure it out.. dont worry.

As far as puck support, and more cities to save. Without giving away our roadmap, lets just say you all might like the next release a lot. It goes to a 2.0 version. (read major enhancement)

Like SMF, I get the "Unable to start InfoSpace Find It!" for the same reasons. Will a future version allow me to use the direct connection through T-Mobile and not go through my BES which, for some reason, blocks these programs?

i must not be holding my tounge right or something, cause i can't get the GPS to work. It was fine on my 8703... then when i upgraded to the 8830 i can only manually enter a location. GPS is not an option.

I sent you a PM. 8820 user on ATT, BES.

Same problems as others are reporting.

Google maps works fine. As does Find It.

I do have issues with not being able to connect to some web pages. The browser appears to be working for alot of web pages, but some it won't connect to - still trying to figure that out too.
