Default Telenav Alternative For Free ... - 08-06-2007, 12:24 AM

Hello..

Just wondering if there is another GPS app. which will "talk" and is Free?

I came from treo , with Tom, Tom, and had all GPS free (no monthly fee)

I tried BB Maps, not bad
Googla maps is a bit better but has no audible prompts.

I guess i gotta cough up $10/month

Ideas, thanks....

If you are self employed - deduct it and then it's only $6.

Try Nav4All... Not the prettiest interface.. But it works and offers turn by turn voice instructions.

if so, then why does it say 30-day trial?

ok, but how much is it after the 30 days?

it seems mapquest does not give you that info, until you try it and get hooked on it?

There are plenty of free GPS apps, for clarification you're looking for a driving oriented turn-by-turn app that talks -- I've tried Nav4All, it seems to work well.

There's a freebie mapper called J2MEMap that handles GPS as well, and I hear the latest version of Google Maps can now do GPS via bluetooth puck.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830: BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

To be clear, Verizon 8830 can use these programs?

Past 30 days? and no prompt to call customer service when trying to navigate?

Well the first time my 30 days was up I was told to call customer service, and they told me that they still have not begun charging monthly for blackberries. So she instructed me to delete it from my BB and re-download it to get another 30 days.

Why they havnt begun charging is beyond me, but I also dont know if they're already charging for other phones.

Either way, Yes it is free (for now) if you dont mind re-downloading month after month, and thats just a minor inconvenience for such a GREAT app.
