JT does eat your battery, but now worse than BB messenger.

I would imagine that they keep trying to improve the algorithm they are using. I am quite sure that the last update (1.02) it mentioned improvements to this algorithm.

JiveTalk uses the battery pretty fast. whoever said it doesn't use it as much as BB messenger...they are mistaken. ever since i installed JiveTalk, i have noticed a significant increase in battery consumption. i'm still good on battery life, but i definitely have noticed a change in battery use. it's all good though b/c JiveTalk is amazing...it truly is

how much IM"ing do you do on it? Do you have "battery save mode when idle" enabled? Also, what do you have set to your idle time? These will all factor into battery life.

ditto gibber. I guess I am just one of those mistaken.

I have not noticed great battery consumption with JT. There will be some, of course. Make sure you have the battery save mode enabled. And yes, light data is exchanged even when it is not be used.
