Default CryptMagic V3 BUG [Now Fixed!]

Please Login to Remove!

If you are users of CryptMagic V2 and are thinking about upgrading to V3, do NOT upgrade if you don't want to lose your data. I upgraded 2 days ago and V3 converted all my data to the new format. I thought this is great, now CryptMagic runs like it should, it even has the Desktop companion (although that costs an extra $10 for upgraders and has performance issues with it), but now it's like SplashID that I used to have on the Palm. But as I was looking for my data, I noticed that some records are missing. It seems that any records with the same first field values are deleted during the conversion. Now, I have to go through every one of my 400 records and figure out what I updated after the upgrade, figure out how to recover my old records and reconcile all this! I've emailed the author yesterday but haven't heard back yet. I'm crossing my fingers that maybe the duplicate records are hidden somewhere and they can be retrieved somehow. Ugh!!!

I had also upgraded before seeing your post but luckily before I started updating any records. My data showed up as imports on the desktop but did not appear in the handheld. On the handheld as you said it showed only the first one and eliminated all the rest.

I am able to open all of my stored items one by one on the desktop and edit each into a new catagory I created on the descktop. After doing this, synchronizing with the handheld will place the item back on the handheld. Still a lot of work to edit each item in order to move them, should just be a drag and drop on the desktop but . . .

Will have to review Mini Safe's desktop when it comes out next week before editing all of these items. At least there are starting to be programs that have a desktop, now we just need a little more functionality. Whoever comes up with the right program will dominate a lot of BB's.
